Still havn't received double digit remix submissions! This is a quality track guys and being able to work with vocals that have the possibility to be released doesn't come along every day.
This is going to be getting a big release too. I know many look at our distributors and wish we had more. (I feel the same way)
So good news. Label-Worx, a label aggregator, is overtaking our distribution. They publish music with over 40 distributors! (They review your label and determine which stores would be best for it)
This change will be taking place way before this release, so this thing is going to be in quite a few shops! Don't forget the deadline is July 20th.
I have decided that I WILL provide detailed feedback for each submitted remix as well as tell you flat out why another remix was chosen over yours. For those who know me they know I am a straight shooter, so please don't take offense if it's not what you want to hear. In the end it's likely going to be better for you. You don't want to surround yourself with a bunch of yes men like George Bush did. (Sorry, I couldn't help it!)
Finally, I have some wicked art work for this release which I'll post when the winners are announced (gotta get your names on it)
Get me your mixes !
[email protected] (links only)
(Feel free to submit WAVs at -6 dB & 320k mp3's (A WAV submission will mean if you are chosen as a winner that you do not have to send me anything else) |

| I'm still trying to put some finishing touches on mine. Although I doubt I'm going to win anything, I just want to get reviewed so I know what I can improve on in the future. |

| So I may be missing something here. This is my first vocal remix and I'm very confused. There are 2 chorus parts of different length and then 2 verse parts of similar length. I am confused as to where all the different MIDI parts fit in with the vocals. Can anyone guide me in the right direction? |

Did you listen to the original track as a guide? If not, you should start there - it's included in the remix pack. You may even want to open your DAW, set the tempo to 137, import the original version to an audio track, and line up the various MIDI and audio clips, then start rearranging them into your remix.
FYI - there are two different choruses because the last chorus (after the breakdown) is different than the others. The downbeat of the chorus should fall on:
- "...FOR you..." for the first choruses; and
- "...FAR and wide..." for the last chorus
(in actuality, the downbeat comes an 8th note after the capitalized words above - hopefully, that's clear)
Hope this helps and let me know if you have other questions. |

I listened to the demo a few times but I'm still quite confused about the arrangement of the different vocal parts. Does it go chorus1 -> verse_prechorus1 -> chorus1 -> verse_prechorus2 -> chorus2?
Also how do we know when the prechorus starts? |

The intro is not really a chorus, just a repeating clip from the chorus. The song basically goes: intro/verse 1/prechorus/chorus/solo/verse 2/prechorus/chorus/solo/breakdown/chorus/solo. But, it's a remix, so you are free to rearrange the song however you want to. Here are the first lines for each part in the order of the original arrangement:
Verse 1: I spend my time looking through my telescope...
Prechorus: Searching far and wide for you is something I don't have to do...
Chorus 1: Searching for you, signs of life to prove...
Verse 2: Down here my world seems so lonely...
Prechorus: [same]
Repeat Chorus 1
Breakdown: [repeat Chorus 1]
Chorus 2: Searching far and wide with my telescope... |
