Chucked out my midi keyboard, uninstalled my 5-6 years worth of aquired software and deleted all my 150GB software backups. Free at last.
I entered the game too late (~ 2002) so was always going for the sounds of the past rather than moving with the sounds of the future.
I can't know how newcomers to the scene feel about todays trance, maybe it's amazing to them.
I can't be bothered moaning about the state of today's trance.
I've been trying my hardest to like some other fourtothefloor styles, but really they are just bleeps and farts with spaceships and a kickdrum.
I'm moving on... have fun!! |
Thats just hillarious!! That's exactly how my dj carreer came to an end!! |

True, but you can't get by having one without the other. For real. |
People who are competent will develop confidence naturally. However, for every one person who has both qualities, there are usually ten who have only the latter. This is true in almost any skilled endeavour. |

And, whatever you do, avoid the latter like the plague.
I've found that the best musicians (Guitarists, DJ's, Pianists, Producers, et al) never, ever brag about how good they are, but that the very worst always talk about how wonderful they are and/or (usually) will be. |

Maybe, but he'd probably die laughing if someone tried comparing his music to the musical content of a typical trance song.
:D
You can talk about intricacy of engineering. There's certainly a point to be made there. But in terms of musical elements the comparison is simply ridiculous. |

Thats exactly what I have said many many times over....but the thing is we keep on trucking. To think how many sleepless nights I've had, thinking that I was about to make the next big thing...then it turned out to be junk.
I wont give up now because I have spent too much time and a lot of money...and I know a lot of about audio that is pretty much worthless unless I keep producing. The thing is a lot of us on here can talk the but still can't get far enough in a track to even finish it. I also still like doing it but I'm not sure I want to produce trance anymore...I have no clue what I want to do anymore...anyway to answer the original posters question...
Don't be put off by all our sour attitudes because we still didn't make it. The thing i believe in is, that music still needs to be made and someone has to make it...so it might just be you.
Like I said before, try it out and see if you like it. |
Steve Quadra, I like your attitude. That refusal to give up and the hope is like music to me. I've come across very few people in this world, who in spite of not being able to make it yet after sleepless nights, the obsession for their passion is so strong. You're just like me. I sacrificed so many things in life just to learn to make music and synthesis, all the technical aspects.
For me, i have an attachment to this kind of music because, 5-6 years ago, I went through hardships in my life that lasted till now. The hardship is still there, but my pain threshold increased so i just don't feel it anymore. But, this music rescued my mind from insanity and something about it just kept me strong. So I can never give up on EDM, because I owe something back to it. I would be listening to old tracks from the mid 90s 24/7 just to feel that spiritual enlightenment. There was so much emotion in the music unlike today's spaceship bleepety bloop stuff you hear just like you said.
I could go on and on about how so many aspects of my life has changed due to EDM, but I don't want to bore you guys with an essay. But ya, I also have a tremendous obession with this music. |

Mozart had to work extremely hard and go through a lot of to be the success that he was. Simply because he was a prodigy does not mean he coasted through. Once again you reveal your ignorance in a lame attempt to put other people down so you can feel better about yourself. |

+1
Also why would Mozart produce inferior music on purpose? So you gotta think he tried hard to make the best music he could.
Also just because your a prodigy doesn't mean you don't have to learn . It just means you learn faster. Sometimes a load faster |
