Not only that, but there's too many labels (across the board, in all genres)!!... I respect everyone for their music, dedication, and hard work, but even in NYTA alone, there's at least 5 labels owned here!! Multiply that on a global scale of every city and every group of EDM heads, and there's a million small labels trying to put music out. To an extent, that's great, but we're seeing the downside of it as well, for us to be having this discussion...
yes!
which is why i agreed with beatports decision to cut down small ty labels that don't produce enough $$.

in my opinion, we have the same amount of good tracks coming out in a year as we did several years ago, except now there are more filler tracks that don't get played more than once (if at all). either way, there is still plenty of good stuff out there, but its more of a couple needles in a haystack...
but i will agree that in the last 10 years my taste has changed dramatically and i'm sure it's the same for those of you who are getting bored with old tunes.
on a side note, i still love every single release ever put out on Euphonic! :)

yea i was just listening to the new s&t in my moms car today because i don't have my monitors at home....aaaaaaaah i love euphonic. i should buy a shirt :P

ah yes euphonic is ridic as are many other labels. trance is still my favorite but because i listen to tons of radio shows and live sets i feel like i end up listening to a lot of the bad too. also i really think people should diversify their sets more, trance for 2hrs straight is boring when you are straight up mixing in track after track. there needs to be a bit more flavor added with throwing in tracks from other genres and/or utilizing more skill behind the decks. in the past 10 years my taste has somewhat changed but even in my first few years of listening i went through a lull where i stopped listening to new trance music for like two years. haven't gotten to that point again but we all go through that at some point i would imagine.

lmfao true story.
On top of that though, everyone has their own opinions... but the simple truth is trance isn't dead it is just in a transitional phase.

My parents raised me right, I know all this haha... From age 0-5, they had all their disco, funk, and SalSoul records playing night and day... Then when I started kindergarten, they finally got into cassette tapes and my dad would drive me to school with Pink Floyd and Jimi Hendrix blasting. Then by high school, we'd rock out all the old Led Zeppelin, Eric Clapton, Santana, and Grateful Dead CDs my dad used to have on 8-track.
Gong, Emtidi, Nick Drake, The Who, Ash Ra Tempel, and Robert Wyatt I found on my own during my current/college phase ;) To be honest, there's about 5 trance songs on my iPod, and they're mine, Breakfast's, and Rafael Frost's :p

moonbeam also makes techno like the when tears...ep and siberia releases, lately.
on the topic, i used to love trance back in the 1999/2000 with that innercity compilation of tiesto. what a ing good cd man. .
the key point is that i started with that, the same goes to rock, i started listening to music in general by picking up a guns n roses cd (appetite for destruction), next thing i know i'm in love with nirvana, pearl jam and soundgarden! eventually, i started appreciating classic rock like led zep, floyd and hendrix. right now if u ask me, i'd tell u that it depends on my mood, but if i had to choose i would go with led zep, floyd and hendrix only because i can relate to their music so much more.
so i guess i grew out of trance and evolved to prog then house then techno. truthfully, i don't think i'll ever enjoy trance like i did in 1999 but then again, if it wasn't for that innercity compilation i wouldn't be listening to techno right now...
