I looooove Moonbeam but I don't think they'll blow up... Their is so abstract, trippy, and well-done that the average trance "fan" won't understand it... It's like the whole "misunderstood genius" thing, a few of us will say "HOLY , this rocks", but the average trance massive just wants something they can put their hands up for...
I saw a discussion like this in another forum, where a lot of people basically agreed along the lines of "Hey we don't give a about putting thought or emotion into a track, we just wanna dance." I'll continue to loooove Moonbeam stuff though!
i've been supporting pavel and vitya (moonbeam) since 2006. ALWAYS genius tracks. reminds me of listening to russian music when i was little - the influence is completely evident in their work. i've had people who dont even like edm wow'ed by their tracks, but i also cannot see them turning popular among the masses, even in the edm crowds. but you never know...

Are we still talking about this? Ok yes, trance is dead. So is house and metal and rock and rap. The minute after you started liking whatever you liked, Wal Mart bought it and made it available to the christians. Nothing is cool anymore, and all DJ's are sellouts.
Oooh look, a puppy!

I'm always surprised when people suddenly think 90% of a certain type of music is . Truth is I think it's higher - more like 99% of all music is lol!
Realistically though I put maybe 1-2 tracks in my cart for every 100 listened to on Beatport, and buy maybe 1/3 off the tracks that make it to my cart. Even years ago I remember countless record store expeditions, spending hours shifting through vinyl and walking away with nothing.
It's always a game to find the 1% of tracks that are amazing, always has been. I do agree that sometimes you gotta dig deeper than others, and that genres (especially subgenres) do tend to fall in and out of favor from time to time though..

Poor Ed, didn't you know that grunge died the day after Eddie Vedder crowd surfed over my head and I touched his butt?

i feel like a big driver here are the digital record labels & releases, when compared to when tracks were primarily released on vinyl.
there are many effects of this such as quality of tracks, cost of releasing tracks...

Does anyone else feel like all Trance music just sounds the same now? I used to listen to a lot of different trance dj's. But for the past I'd say year or so I'd much rather listen to minimal, techno, Prog house pretty much anything that sounds dark and or smooth. The only trance dj I can really stand to listen to at this point is Christopher Lawrence. Does anyone else kinda feel the same way or is it just me?
Dude, I feel the same way. Chris Lawrence is pretty much the only DJ that gets me going these days. I just wish we'd see more of him here. WTF is up with that?

nahhh trance isnt dead.... I listen to all types of electronic (and most types of music) but lately ive been getting more and more into trance... doesnt mean that Ill stop listening to my prog house
Id say your taste in music has changed more than the genre itself

the last show I know of that he did in this area was last year with judge jules and yahel. But I agree he needs to do a lot more shows around here. I'd love to see him at electric zoo. He does have his radio show which is exellent.
