That's on a Rogers connection? It's gotta be some weird caching artifact. Those cable modems Rogers rents out aren't even capable of more than about 50 megabits, and AFAIK uploads are still capped at 320 kbps.

nope that wasnt a Resi link... it was from "home base" but good for testing what it would be like if you had Superman throughput speeds at home... and how the majority of the Internet is nowhere near ready for that madness (I test many downloads from many places and it is mostly severely disappointing...)

this is what i get from home, more realistic from my SB5100 on Extreme:

I used to use Rogers, but since I run a server (radio station), that would make me illegal to them. My ISP is DSL though Velcom. Unlimited everything, static IP, and the ability to run any server, I.E. websites, radio station streams, etc.

Does anyone know if there is an equivalent that resells though Rogers? The faster speeds would be nice again.

Telco services are overpriced in Canada.

Also those who say we do not need such high speed internet are just wrong, I watch all my soccer online via IPTV services and I need good speed at all times. Well, let me just tell you, I have problems almost every time.

You can view fairly high quality video streams with under 1Mbps in bandwidth... are you trying to view 1080p live over the net or something?

There are a lot of issues with the implementation of the Internet currently that have been slowing becoming apparent as speeds jump higher... there are things that need to be resolved and probably redesigned before they should be handing out super high speeds en masse.

I agree regarding pricing though.

Mine in Aurora before Rogers will fcuk me over in a couple of weeks;

Yup, I got fcuked over on the upload speed.

So is Acanac STILL any good? They are offering $25/mo a year for a 5MB line, unlimited download. Second time I busted the 60GM limit this month and I'm pissed.

I so how managed to surpass the 250 GB+ limit or whatever my ISP imposes. I hit 280 GB and they cut me off for 24 hours. Yet I am paying for "unlimited" :whip:

Why can't there be an ISP that has unlimited download/upload and 20 Mbps [bandwidth]

They are still advertising as such, but I'm not sure. The verdict has come down from the courts and the CRTC, so I don't know how...

Been with them for 2 years and I have no real complaints. Once in a while the internet will crap out, but it'll be back on within 5-10 minutes. Speeds are consistent too.

Thanks Jay... I just got off the phone with them, and it's $25/mo for the 1st year, $50 DSL modem, and $34/mo thereafter. It's still $15 cheaper than my rogers, I can take going down from 10 to 5MB/s.

I'll call Rogers and see what retention has to say.

Teksavvy is now offering cable internet services if anyone is interested.
