if Docomo can push final speeds of 300 mbs for Super3G, testing speeds of 250mbs as we speak.
I wonder what would broadband / DSL speeds will be in Japan, w/o The help of Google's ISP services? |

A lot of things are more expensive in Canada than vs. somewhere else. Cellphone service. Car repairs / service. Today I went to a Toyota dealership in Hamilton, ON - a brand new car I was looking at for $22,000 but it sells for $17,000 at a dealership just across the border in USA. Sure, go ahead, do the conversion, still a big difference.
Canada started the whole internet broadband craze a decade or so ago, and we were leaders for some time. In the recent few years, we've been stationary while everyone else improved. Feels like we have no competition in Canada, but a one giant monopoly?

so an interesting question to ask would be... a year later from when this was started - now that there is 50mbps and 25mbps internet available in Toronto:
- is anybody using it? (Extreme Plus/Ultimate on Rogers, not sure what competitors' equivalents are)
- for any who may be "yes" from the above... is the internet "giving" you your downloads at those actual speeds?
One of the arguments a year ago was that we NEED 50mbps plans |

No because
1) Its 100 a month
2) you have to also get digital tv
3) its not available in most areas
4) there is still a bandwidth cap
So until its a straight up service that doesnt require a second mortgage, ill pass thanks. |

What a sad day, the internet on my phone is officially faster than at home.
Just got 6Mbps down, and 1Mbps up on my phone! |

good points, i agree - I was just hoping there were some people who may be able to talk to what they get in real everyday usage from those kinds of high-tier speeds |
