TA Remix competition #11 - THE VOTING (pg. 6)

In defense of the producer of Remix #1. I'm sure he was new to the production game, and when your new and no one wants to listen to your music, even if you just are looking for constructive criticism and a bit of help.

Thinking the only way to get some sort of helpful hints about production is maybe join a remix contest your never gonna win, after all, SOMEONE is going to have to listen to it. And heck, they maybe even review it for you.

The only reason I say this is I'm doing the same thing except for a different remix contest. And no, I did not make remix #1. And no it does not justify the 8 votes it did got.

Amazing entries! Almost done listening to them all... about to vote...

*EDIT*

...and it's 11 that gets mine! Fantastic remix! Your breakdown is... long, but I like your take on the track much better than #1

Btw, how does #1 have so many votes? It wasn't very "stand-out" to me.... but opinions are opinions....

:)

*EDIT2*

Okay... read the entire thread. Seriously. Half the votes for Remix 001 need to be thrown out. It's obviously being rigged. The saddest part is that it's not even a good song that's being rigged!

REMIX #1 for the lose.

*EDIT3*

I LOVE THE DYING CAT in #11 (contrary to other posters)!!! Makes me want to listen to: Solid Globe - Sahara!

3 days left. and remix #1 is still behind #11.

Apparently you should fear poll bias as well as fighting a land war there......

#1 is pure

I hope the poll starter just throws it out. I for one, would welcome some benevolent dictatorship in this case.

Who am I to influence the outcome of the poll? Maybe some people actually like remix #1, ever considered that?

I suggest you just wait untill the poll closes and until than, just shut your piehole!

Tell me, why do you all think the poll has been biased because 'your' least favourite track is getting a lot of votes. Stop being so ignorant!
wrzonance
yeah... well... next time get my name right!

That's Mr. Arrogant-ignorant-opionated-knee-jerk- to you!

In all seriousness though, perhaps people do really love #001 ... but on production quality ALONE it falls short of nearly every other competitor.

My opinion remains. The song is rubbish. I will be dissappointed if it wins considering all the other talent represented in this competition.

Maybe next time I'll be more sensitive. I wasn't trying to troll... that's cronodevirs job.

Well, rough and short review of each track;

1. Nooby. Id like to meet the guy that made it and give him some pointers.

2. Interesting lead, however, the track is very loud. And it has that generic comercial sound.

3. Loud, muddy. And a very bad bass imho. I get tired of hearing this bass in Psy all the time, I don't want to hear it in trance too.

4. Same bass as before, but lower in volume. The pluck is pretty standard.

5. This guy is brining us the blip-bloop. Unfortinatly, the blipy bloopy is louder than the rest of the track, so you hear a track in the background and some VCA clicks in the front.

6. Sounds pretty standard trance. It does have a fruity kicker though. Doesn't stand out from the rest.

7. Where are the mids? Your bass doesn't seem to have any bass either.

8. No mids. Nice portamento lead though.

9. Nice low end, but the things that are supposed to be pad and elad, seem to lack mids.

10. Interesting take, some unique elements there.

11. Loud. But the most distant from the original I think. Will probably be voting for it. Very loud.

12. Not much to say, it sounds a lot like the other tracks.

Well, when it comes to actually being remixes and creativity, id give the tracks a 1/5. It would have been nice to see remixes of the song that weren't simply minor arrangement changes and sound changes, which is what alot of these are.

I could have sat and listened to them more and given better judgement, but meh. I was expecting more variated remixes, alot of them sound, as i said, like the same song with a few minor adjustments.

Production quality wasn't considered. Anyone can make something sound pro, but they can't all be creative.

Good point.

so if no1 does win i think a remake will have to be done because i can't really see slinky and that playing this over the airwaves without it being cleaned and tided up.

With the voting soon to be closed, we thought that this would be the best time to clarify what seems to be some ongoing issues in this thread over the past week and a half.
We are the producers of Remix #1, as some of you might have inferred from reading our posts. But, out of respect for the other producers in the contest we tried to keep our comments as objective as possible in order to maintain fairness.
There are only two issues that we'd like to address and hopefully clarify for everyone who is following along:
Firstly, the simplicity of the remix and low quality of production. We are first-time producers, and this is our first remix competition. Without saying, we weren't expecting to be in this position at the end of the competition (we were happy when we got our second vote.) We entered thinking that we'd get some pointers in production since most of the voters would be producers, but the lack of constructive criticism has been a sad state of affairs. Especially since most of the harsh comments about our track come from producers who are part of the competition.

Secondly, the rigging of the competition in our favor. This is just childish. We were more than happy with our own vote as we said. The fact that other people "enjoyed" our remix is surprising.
We only voted for our track once, the other votes were made by other TA users and everyone should respect their votes.

Last but not least we would like to thank those of you who voted for our our track, as well as those whose comments have actually help us grow as producers!

cronodevir We would love to hear your pointers
Theran Thank for your help so far - You have been GREAT!

Thank you!

Then again, most of the conspiracy theories was at the expense of Chinese people.

You aren't Chinese... are you?

I wasn't participating in the remix contest. I was being harsh though. I don't think your song is that good both as a stand-alone piece, and in comparison to the other entries. Which makes sense, you're newbies.

Good for you taking a shot at this contest, and bad on me for lacking any form of impulse control (when responding) and acting like a nut.

It's this ADHD... it's killing me.
