wow. such a hatred for MO.
like, did he personally offend you or something? |
well, yes, without going into too many details. he's cocky, his attitude makes me wana puke, and it was portrayed perfectly in that picture.
You know how someone's personality can completely deminish their credibility as a person. That's MO.
this has probably affected my opinion of his current music taste. But not completely, I still feel his house beats aren't anything to get excited about, or even dance to.
How many of you can actually say you've enjoyed a MO set in the past 3 years? |

Hmmm... that's kinda funny. I've never met MO b4 and I was under the pretense that he is as the way you view him, cocky and above all. I don't know what led me tho think that over the years, but it just developed like that. I finally met him on the Beats Ahoy 10 cruise a while back, and my attitude of him completely changed. Myself, MO and Tim hung about and I got a chance to chat with Mark. He turned out to be a pretty cool dude after all. He was also fooling around with my camcorder and recorded myself and Tim of which I included in my video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GzVfqegu79g). We were joking around and shooting the about his heavy schedule (that man works hard). He even said he'd like to contribute mixes to my web-station... but that's another story. Point being is that he's not the pampas individual I thought he was.
As for his mixes, well I always love what he puts out, regardless of genre, and this goes back to his Meow years. Perhaps I'm as fine-tuned to music as you seem to be, but if it gets my feet moving, then it gets my approval. |

I was looking though the raw video I took of him and the one thing I noticed is that he's always got his eyes glued to his laptops. It feels like he's almost disconnected from the audience most of the time. |

he's obviously not disconnected from the audience if he can get such a crowd reaction with what he does all the time... lets not go down the old "if the dj isn't interacting with the crowd he's not a good dj" crap again.... |

| I was really surprised to hear what Hawtin was playing. I think he knew Toronto has its own vibe and his minimal techno sound wouldn't go well. But yes, his set was up there -- had the room on its ing toes. |

I really liked his CZ set in May... I bugged him for 3 song ID's! lol |

We owe MO alot, love him or hate him his longevity and maintenance of his standing as a local dj is something uncommon anywhere in the world.
I don't find the mainroom has been to my taste the last few years as many people have mentioned, but that's because my taste in music has changed(tech, tech-house)....I remember years back, the night would be segmented from trance say at the start of the night and then from like 3 on it would be all house, resident nights were the best and when a headliner came in the highlight was hearing mark close and just put the headliner to shame...<3 |
