How many people actually download mixes from here? (pg. 3)

I download mixes from this forum. With them, I get to hear music that I would not otherwise get to hear. There are definitely talented DJs in here, and when I download a mix, I try to get back and at least leave a comment.

I'm not a DJ, but I've even posted a couple mixes on here, and received some comments that are, have been, or will be helpful with other mixes that I made or will make.

I guess this would also be a good place to ask this:

Has anybody ever thought of asking one of the TA admins to maybe create a DJ promotion forum that
is only open to users with 500+ posts on TA? Reason for that is to avoid having to filter through a lot of
the junk that gets posted here, as well as to ensure that active users maybe get to have their mixes
stay around for a little longer.

Just a thought

i do, its just a shame i dont really like the 'new sound' of dance music

its definately rewarding when you stumble upon a great oldskool trance mix. i like the really gritty early-mid sounds but at the same time i discovered dubstep in here and im really liking that too :)

On one hand it sounds like a good idea, but on the other hand you have to realize that a lot of the "junk" is mostly just Radio DJ's posting links to their shows, and there are plenty of people who don't post a lot, yet spin very good music and actively review other mixes as well, so post counts might not be a good measure. Take DJSoulStone for instance, he's a great DJ who reviews a lot of sets and puts out some too but doesn't have 500 posts.

Thanks for the flowers! :D
I've been in a lot of forums of many different types, but a special area connected to a certain amount of posts never worked. Honestly, a properly styled thread and mods that clean up is enough in my opinion.

The 500 post idea is not bad , but then on other hand you might have people that are not very good in english , but their mixing and taste of music might be good that wouldn't be able to post a mix anytime soon.

Regarding the different types of dj's , I do see more support here within the techno/deep house dj's than from the trance and proggy ones . As well as more interaction in the music discussion sub forum .

I suggested this a long time ago in the suggestions thread but nobody ever replied anything.

So yeah, I download.

About the circle-jerk, there's a bit of it yes, but you have to consider that people that like certain kinds of music will get together and give replies to the other djs that like the same kind of music. I think this bunch of house and techno guys I listen to are bloody good, so no wonder it attracts loads of replies.

Occasionally there's these hidden gem from someone who only has 3 posts on TA and it goes un-noticed, but well that's life. There's so much in here too, it's hard to filter out what's good and what's bad, so everyone tends to stick to the known names. Keep on posting your stuff and if it's good eventually you'll have followers.

And needing 500 posts to put a mix here is a idea.

Yeah, 500 is a lot but something like 50 or even 25 would at least guarantee that the people who just come in here to spam their mixes won't be able to do so ;)
