Why?

He was stripped of his title from the UFC because he failed a drug test. That’s why the guy went and fought in Japan for however many years. No drug testing in Japan.

How is that good ? It's like when Fedor fought Lindland, ooohhh he beat a middleweight.

I am waiting til after TUF, when Kimbo can fight Brock, then Kimbo Fedor! :wtf:

IDK, after Kimbo's fight against petruzelli, I will always remember him as a guy that got knocked out by a jab.

boomer i have a pop quiz for you

what is your take on UFC from a psychological standpoint? do you feel like fighting for a living could possibly be linked to disfunctional childhoods or traumatic experiences?

i want the answer by 9 a.m. tomorrow. eastern time:o

Yeap, but it might sell tickets if he can improve during the next TUF season. I remember feeling a bit let down after his last performance.

hhhmm, I think it is linked to wanting to have sex with your mother, and killing your father :wtf:

Thats my standard Psychology answer to everything...

and I do not think it is linked. Not many good pro fighters are effed in the head IMO. I think there are more prominent traits that could be linked, like a high tolerance for pain, competitiveness, as well some social things...For instance, I think a lot of kids get into MMA because they get picked on or are 'outsiders'...not saying they go pro, but I bet some trickle through to the pros.

But then you take a cultural view on it and you see tons of Pride (pun intended) in Japan when it comes to fighting. And you see BJJ as a natinoal sport in Brazil, and Judo is pretty much a national sport in Russia...

that's my report, grademeplzktnx!

GSP took karate because he was the small kid that got beat up. He has an education and is about as psychotic as a pretty butterfly sipping sweet nectar out of a flower. He does it because he liked martial arts and realized pretty quickly that with his gifts and a good work ethic he could be something good.

Many fighters also get into it because of family ties to the sport. Psychotic fighters are the minority today (they were probably in the majority when the sport started...bar room brawlers with a bit of skill and such), because Dana White time and time again stresses that his fighters maintain a level of professionalism (see Lesner getting lambasted by him at the post ufc press conference for instance because of his comments after his fight)

MMA is just something special. I always watched the sport (pretty much since ufc 4) and enjoyed the violence of it, but since starting doing some mma training with my gf as a way to get in shape it changed a lot of things i thought about the sport. Even when you get beat up, you get ridden into the ground by a trainer who pushes you to do just one more multiple times, it feels good. Getting hit can feel good in a way of sorts. It boosts the confidence and makes you feel great that you worked through it.

I'll never be an mma fighter, so i can't speak for them, but i can definitely understand why a young person with a few natural gifts would really want to devote their life to this. I see a few every week, and oddly enough they have much more of a head on their shoulders and know what respect is more than the average joe.

just imo of course.

I guess when I look back, and reflected upon how beautiful GSP's fighting style and work ethic could be summarized, I was always lost for words. No more....no more.

lol, yeah I imagine someone talking to him at walmart line as he ignores them and when they chase him into the parking lot, he just guillotines them to sleep.

put it this way. I am a lot bigger than GSP, but he would hand my ass to me without breaking a sweat so beautifully, that i would ask for seconds:p
