The site was blocked when I worked at Citi but when I google searched TA forums I clicked on it and somehow managed to get in.
don't know how it worked but it did. |

It blocks by sniffing network traffic, matching it and then sending a blocked message back to the computer. Most of the times.
It really depends on the workplace though. There are a lot of ways to block and as such there is ways to get past them. |
Ah that makes sense. B/c I've always thought it was odd when employers blocked TA b/c I thought it meant that they had to know what TA is specifically. |

Unbelievable. I can't believe that people not only waste time on TA at work, but when it gets blocked, they waste even more time coming up with elaborate (or not-so-elaborate) workarounds.
Did it ever occur to some of you to, you know, work? |

Hell im guilty of it :tongue2 i work a in a kitchen but i still find myself busting out my ipod between orders checking whats on TA:( but it doesnt affect my cooking at all though. People will need intenet re-hab soon lol |

My work blocked TA as well yesterday,I thought I was the only dept blocked cuz I browse it all day long hahaha

Dan, I'm sure that most companies that use network gateway filtering will block access to logmein.com and similar sites under the category "remote proxy".
My company uses such filtering but I was able to disable Firefox from using the proxy server by editing various config files. I'm sure you guys could find a similar solution. ;) |

| funny how i work at an ISP and they have the most primitive way of blocking sites.. you can get around it by capitalizing a single letter of the blocked URL keywords, or for facebook and gmail you can get in through using https:// (protip for some of you to try) |
