the measure of a city's worth is not in who can purchase the most popular line up of out of town djs once or twice a year. the measure of a city's worth is in how respectable and intelligent the local-grown scene is. in that respect vegas is the capital of hair gel tattoo coked-out top40 mashup douchebaggery. if that's your scene, sure, vegas is the capital.

I was in Vegas for the Underworld show and the venue was half empty plus I heard they gave out 100 tickets for FREE the day of the show... It looks like they had about 500 peeps or so. It was a great show, but bad Promotions and Marketing...

what i do like about vegas that many scenes dont have is people go just go to to a club and hang out. going to a club is what people see as a way to spend their night having fun. Where as in many cities, clubs are only for a certain artist - and if no one big is there, the place is dead. So vegas def has that going for it. You can always go to a club and it will be packed. That is not the case in SF or LA or Miami or even NY all the time. Crowd to dj awareness varies there over other cities, but at least people show to have a good time. For instance when MIKE did his PUSH set in San Fran-my god that vibe sucked. So it really depends. I would have preferred seeing Mike in Vegas with a packed place of people who dont really know him but go to have fun, as opposed to the vibe that was in SF.

how ing comical, vegas has an apparent monopoly on people who go to a club for the purpose of having fun! you were in sf listening to TRANCE in a BIG ROOM CLUB, what were you expecting? nobody walks into that environment to socialize, not even in ibiza. there are dozens of weeklies and monthlies in sf with much better electronic music where people are facing each other and not the dj. broaden your horizons and you might develop a clearer picture of what the scene is like in other cities.
