so you are saying your kids are not cut out for college before they are even born?

all i am trying to say here is i will be ready for it.

the worst that can happen is that they don't go, and i have enough money to retire earlier than planned. I don't understand what you are arguing jamie.

WHAT? lol where did you get that i said my unborn kids aren't cut out for college?

i just see from your posts that you are all about your kids going to college and i was just saying it doesn't always turn out like that, and it doesn't necessarily mean they will be failures or that you will be a failure as a parent.

look i'll be ready for it too. the minute i get pregnant, i'm starting the prepaid tuition program so that is paid for by the time they are in high school.

also for every uneducated success story there are 10 that end up not so successful at the bottom rung of society.

just saying.

well not everyone is cut out for college so i wouldn't try to force my kids to go to college. i think a lot of parents put pressure on their kids to go to college and grad school because it's a reflection of themselves and their parenting. like, "oh yea my son is getting his MBA at bla bla bla" lol

my best friend was a little punk/up for all of his teen years and into his early 20s. came from a dysfunctional family with money and didn't go to college and even had grand theft auto on his record by 19 but he got his act together and now runs a successful ebay business selling high end wheels. he has over 300k in inventory and lives in a fancy high rise in aventura and drives a nice infinity G35. i'd say overall he is a story of "success" and he has never stepped foot on a college campus lol

Well it's pretty easy to start a business if you/your family already HAS money. Those kinda stories rarely happen, how many college ups aren't bums (in the broad sense) when they're 30. I think a good measure of economic success is where you come from and your family background.

It's just that too many people rely on these kinda stories and say 'oh, maybe I'll have the same fate as that guy and he didn't even go to college! I'll be fine' which obviously doesn't happen that often. I can't imagine not letting my kids go to college, I'm pretty sure you'll be doing them a favor in the long run so they won't regret that part of their life 'cause you'll never really know what will happen.

not to mention that the bachelor degree has become the new high school diploma.

no his stepdad (a yacht broker, so he obviously did very well) didn't give him a dime because he was the black sheep of the family. he started that entire business on his own by busting his ass. he used to sell wheels out of his house/garage and then his company grew so quickly, he had to get a warehouse. now he has partnered up with another guy who owns a limo company and they do very well together.

his real father was very rich too and was murdered and the money left for him was used to pay for a reform school when he was 14 lol they sent him off to some bootcamp-like school for 2 years and that was thousands of dollars a DAY lol

so by your own words, even if he was a self made man, money helped shape who he was.

Damn yuki, why you waking up at 6am? :p

I got fired from my first job as a busboy because, "I wasn't up for the job." I was happy because that job SUCKED. I was the only busser many times for a restaurant will a pretty high customer volume. Hundreds everyday. I'd get bitched at for not being able to keep up with it even though I go as fast as I could. Sunday church rushes, with all the messy kids, and gigantic families coming in, having to clean up after their .

what? no i was just trying to prove that he didn't receive any financial help whatsoever when starting that business and that he didnt go to college and still makes great money/is successful as an adult.

As mentioned already, for every one success story of someone who didn't go to college, there are 100 who made nothing of themselves.
