Friends who are depressed

we have this friend who is a dictionary definition of a "pothead". never leaves the house unless to work and his place is always trashed, he's anti-social, etc...
he's actually a good looking guy and pretty sucessful. owns his own shop and builds custom cabinets for high end homes, has a nice place and a nice truck, etc... tall dark and handsome and really funny when you get to know him. so it's not like he is this fat nerdy loser who has every right to be depressed.
he's going through a depression my bf told me and we all agree that he needs to ditch the weed and he's in denial about the weed being part of (if not most) of the problem. i feel really bad what should we do?
i would imagine an intervention is the only choice right now since he's in denial but what are we gonna make him do? go to rehab? who would pay for it? lol |

Actually the weed is probably the only thing keeping him from going for the high score.
Edit: but if you want to really get him off it, it's going to depend on how set his mind is about smoking. You may be able to distract him with activities where he can't smoke. The best weapon against weed though is a woman he's willing to quit smoking for. That however is stepping on egg shells, because if he is too adamant and she is too forceful he'll kick her to the curb. |

| hmm, that really sucks. however there isn't much YOU can do, it doesn't matter how many pep talks you give or threats, he's still going to deny the problem.:sadgreen: it's not until something crashes into his reality and he accepts he has a problem that he will consider doing something about it. once he's serious about it- then he can do it. the first step is always the hardest. |

100% agreed about the chick part
apparantly he met a chick in canada. he goes there often to stay with his parents. he wants a little farm girl who will pop out babies and take care of him and he can "provide for the family" lol he's from montreal and grew up on 100 acres of land...total farm boy/hippy. he has a tatoo of a huge marijuana leaf on his calf muscle:stongue: he's quite the character. it's such a shame.
his birthday is this sunday and i'm going to clean his house for free for him as a gift. i cleaned it once before and he was happy/appreciative but he isn't willing to do it himself. i think if he has a clean place, it'll lift his spirits. i guess that's a start. |

Well, considering he was willing to mark himself virtually for life. She's going to have to be more than a mild interest, or someone he just wants to . He'd have to be head over heels smitten like a ing school boy to get him to even bring that prospect up.
Good luck with that, should you choose to accept it.

| Get him hooked on coke. Wont help his addiction much but it will cure his depression (whos ever in a bad mood while on coke?), not to mention that his house will be spotless. The best cleaning i ever did was when i was still buzzed and i had the whole saturday (well at least until the drugs wore off at which point i would fall asleep in 30 seconds, regardless if i was in the bed or not) available with nothing better to do. The floors were so shiny from all the cleaning that i had to wear sunglasses indoors or i would have gone bling. |

| Humm us Quebec men and women are very fond of our weed. What you are describing is a very normal lifestyle in Quebec. Thats probably why he is in denial because its very normal way of life here. He just needs a GF and he will be ok. |
