kinda hate to see Federer losing, but it was bound to happen someday...

edit:

Del Potro won... oh well

Well lets hope he keeps his #1 title for over 2,200 days lol

congrats to JMDP. well deserved. fought for basically every point in the 4th and 5th set.

what a fantastic ending to another great tournament. juan martin del potro and kim clijsters are fantastic champions. tonight's match was so unreal, i couldn't believe the way juan martin played. after the way he dismantled nadal i didn't know if he had it in him to beat federer especially after that first set.

also enberg for essentially dismissing del potro when he wanted to speak in spanish especially to a crowd in nyc where a lot of people know what he's saying. they let caroline speak english, danish and polish last night and she didn't even win.

Can someone explain to me why the the match was not televised here?

I apparently missed a great final.

i saw it. well just the 5th set on tv. watched the 3rd and 4th at work. :D it might be because of viacom.

the us open got their first fifth set final in a very very long time! JMDP was just too much at the end for federer. i'll be honest, i've done/seen a lot of rfed matches and have never seen anyone wack the ball back at federer as much as del potro did. basically roger was afforded very little time to set up the shots he wanted.

ygrene - i have the ball from the federer-djokovic match :o

that's kinda how murray has got under fed's skin too, he's very energetic and fed doesn't seem to know what to do sometimes when he isn't bossing the tempo.

I'll give del potro huge dues here, I really thought that mentally he'd ed it up when fed went 2-1 up. I've seen many players get close to beating him, but then just falling at those points and crumbling afterwards, so congrats to JM.

So Justine Henin is back. Interesting.
