+1, i'm assuming they showed a ty cgi rendition of the demon or whatever attacking the couple? if that's the case they totally ruined the movie, especially since the movie was more about situational suspense than crazy monsters slashing out people's eyeballs

i saw this on my birthday on tuesday night; and thoroughly enjoyed it. i liked how there was no title screen and really no ending screen either (no credits, etc....). it just ENDED.
i really liked how there wasn't any music additions to it...some scary movies bring in scary music or whatever and loud noises to "scare" the audience; when it's really just a shock and awe kinda device.
this movie had just plain ol' raw video on it; and it was much more effective in gettin you in the mindset that something abnormal was going on....like you were watching what was really going on; and not a movie (per se).
a few things i found kinda hokey: the picture in the attic; and the scene where she's "studying"....like all this has been going on and she wants to study...NOW? but otherwise, a great flick. for sure will be adding it to the DVD collection when it comes out!!
also plus 1 on the dragging scene. was wicked.

spoiler
----
in the end they show micah being thrown at the camera from across the room. then katie comes in, sniffs the body on the floor, and looks at the camera and races towards it (the Ring style, coming out of the TV)

dude, retarded. and also, they do have so ambient sounds (music if you wanna call it that) whenever something ed up is about to happen, it's a pretty typical device in horror films to add suspense; and it's yet another thing that i didn't like about this movie (the fact that they had that going on)- it no longer felt like a documentary, but a sad attempt at a mockumentary.

yea yea, i didn't mean the ambient bass line that came in during each time the clock slowed back down....i meant like very sharp sudden sounds that scary movies often attempt to use.
i liked the shallow ambient sound because it seemed to heighten my senses a little bit more; without a "shock" to the system.
i also found myself looking around a lot more at the room as each night scene progressed (i.e. the first time not so much; but by the end i was looking all around, hoping to see something).
while the ending something more of The Ring; vs an ending similar to Blair Witch, i still enjoyed it.

I don't think those ambient sounds were part of the "soundtrack," but were supposed to be the sounds created by the entity.

nah, no way. the only sounds the entity made was the footsteps and the random screaming.
i really DID like that the footsteps were getting heavier/harder as th emovie progressed...first few nights they were kinda light; but by the last night it was a very loud hard thumping. awesome.

Well, I respectfully disagree. Just imagine, you're awake in the early hours of the morning, looking at the ceiling, and you begin to hear those deep, almost guttural factoryinnards-like noises. I'd be freaked.
Different interpretations!

and those footprints were pretty unsettling, too.

i thought it was some electromagnetical disturbance/static that the camera was picking up. either way, in the theater it had a different vibe than on the laptop - i dl'd the original version the other day and the ending in theaters was definitely more "hollywood".
i'm not saying this is a masterpiece, but as far as being a scary flick i thought it did the job well.

the only reason why i liked it is that it doesn't mimic the typical scary flick genre; it's not an innovative movie by any means, but it's 50x more refreshing than "friday the 13th 2009" or "Saw XXI" or something like that
