ty thing about invisalign is that they only work if you have minor problems. People with serious corrections to me made (teeth on top of teeth or overbites etc.) can't use them.

Trust me, I inquired.

Was in agonizing and painful and kept crippling my self esteem. Would I get braces if I'd get to decide it now? Hell yeah!

I had braces for approximately 5-6 years (Well I still have retention wire at inside of my lower teeth untill my mid 20's so that the tooth won't themself up again...) and went trough about every kind that the finnish healtcaresystem had at it's disposal... The metal "grills" glued to top of teeth, the rubber wire, that in disguisting mouthpiece with metal whiskers and straps that go behind your head that you use overnight, and finally the moutpiece that is kept at top of your mouth with wire infront the teeth. (The one that totally s up your speech.)

The funny thing was, that the dentists (who were really nice btw.) kept on telling me that it will be over after this and so on, when they obviously knew that it will go on for qutie some time.

How much did this all cost? Nothing.:happy2:

started wearing braces jan of 2008, got them removed around july this year. Cost me $5000 as well. Pretty painless except the first few days were horrible. I'm wearing retainers now and wear them every day and gonna just wear them during the night starting next month.

Going for a clean and polish on Friday. Hopefully there won't be anything else that needs to be done - like a filling - but I suspect there might as I haven't been to the dentist in a while.

A few years ago I had a really sore tooth and went to the dentist and she drilled a hole in the back of it, and seemed to wash the nerve (which was touching the tooth and causing the pain or something) out and then filled in the hole again. The tooth has lost its whiteness over the years, so I must get it bleached.

One other tooth is out of sync with the rest. When I was a teenager I thought it would grow to the correct position as my mouth got a bit wider as I got older, but it hasn't. So I must see if I can get a brace to straighten it.

I hope that is all I'll need, and from this visit on I'll be getting check ups every six months or so for the rest of my life, instead of leaving it so long between visits.

If I ever have children they're not going to know what sweets are.

seeing as how the cosmetic dentistry industry has skyrocketed, i'd say that statistic is outdated and holds very little merit nowadays:)
