what do you think about the whole "pots" scheme that FIFA is running. curiously the countries that contribute the most funding to FIFA is seeded in pot 1. basically guaranteeing them not having to play one another and also giving further insurance to progress to the second round.
i mean i understand the reason behind this, these countries are more popular and attract more spectators worldwide (televion revenue). but it's still a bit unfair. i think they should just throw them all in one pot and draw from there. nothing wrong with a group of England, Italy, Brazil, Argentina. |

I believe it's also based on their previous records, Denys. I'm sure they believe it'd be too unbalanced to have a group with England, Italy, Brazil, and Argentina, and another group with Algeria, North Korea, New Zealand, and Switzerland.
But, I agree with you - it'd be way more fun if it were completely random, though that could also be less profitable. |

They have more overall points though. It's based on ranking points only, of which Argentina have a good long-term record in the last 4-5 yrs. France have been bad in the last 4 so they missed out. |
