| also it has less to do with academic achievement than with some younger students still finding it amusing to dick around in class while disrupting those that are there to take full advantage of their time there. |

That's because most of them have figured out that lectures are generally complete wastes of time, especially given you can watch them online at any half-decent university. Mature students often become arrogant wads who assume superiority over the young students because of their age. The amount of mature students who made complete out of themselves due to that pretentiousness in my time at university was quite staggering. |
Uh no, in my program lectures are not a waste of time. It's very interactive and practical and most of the material that ends up on exams is what the prof has gone over in class. But thanks for your input.
I pay to hear my prof teach, not students talk. If they don't think it's valuable they should leave. |

This is pretty much my paper writing strategy. It's stressful as hell, but I still always get As, lol.

Oh man I stayed up all night on Monday/Tuesday to finish a paper. I took a 15 minute nap on my office floor, lol. Then I tried to convince myself that I could sleep from 4-7am and be fine. ing glad I didn't, I would have been screwed! |

One thing that I have found to be awesome and incredibly helpful, is writing my notes on my laptop and recording the lectures on my webcam. |
I wish i could do that, but one i don't really want to carry my laptop around and 2 its too much temptation to go online and off lol
A PC distracts me way too much, i mean my stupid iPhone distracts me enough as it is...

Get a digital recorder. Ask every one of your teachers if they mind you recording the lectures. This can enhance your note taking as you can review the lecture later if your notes don't fully make sense. |
I already tried the tape recorder way. The classes that were easy let me record the lecture, the harder ones that were more time consuming I wasn't allowed to record. I will try it once again when i go back in Janurary but i think i am going to be stuck on the same boat.

writing notes while looking in the book he teaches from works for me. incase the exact same thing stands in the book ill just write down where to find it instead of noting the whole . i want to start marking in the book too but im too greedy and wants to resell them. |
This is what i do, but its not organized. I need to pretty much write notes on paper and refer to page numbers in the book. I pretty much keep all of my books, sometimes they will only give me 10-20 bucks back on a book i spent like 100 bucks on. So it i keep them. I keep them just in case i will ever have to look at them in the future, which i have but its not that often.
The one thing i hate is buying journals made by the professor. They are usually expensive as and you cant return them. Its pretty much like stroking the professors ego. Thanks god i dont have to deal with that yet here at the JC.

I went back after 3 years of no school - best decision ever!
You can do it. I'm doing so much better than when I left (FFS I transferred over less than 10 credits.. FFFFFFFFFFF UUUUUUUUUUUUUUU MIAMI!)
But yes. I was a dumb head going to class all hungover etc.. and I had no idea what to study. Now i do :D
I am 25 in less than 2 months and whenever I tell my classmates - they freak. I can't even going out drinking with some of them
The end of winter makes 1.5 years of being in school. :D 1.5 more to go  |
yAy!
I knew I wasnt the only oneeee. I am also panning on going to Miami, but only if I know i will be back at school in decent shape grade wise.

I dropped out of college a few years back , it just wasn't for me. I was lucky enough to land a career as a CDL licensed freight operator with a major pharmacy chain and great benefits & salary. It's tough with the way the economy is to land a job/career paying over 40 thousand a year even with a bachelors degree. Going back to school is always a plus, but I wouldn't do it unless you're financially stable and have at least a job on the side that can help you pay for your everyday necessities. |
Thankfully i can actually go back.
Money was the reason why i couldn't go back and had to working etc etc. Right now i have the opportunity to go back with some cash i have and my daily hustle of working on cars, handyman stuff etc etc. It will get me through the JC period, once i go back to UCSD student loans FTL!

You can make it to Miami if you want. I got more than a month's worth of work done ahead of time when I went last year, just to ensure I wouldn't myself over, and that I could really enjoy myself while I was there/not have to think about homework and .
I said I wasn't going to go this year because I don't have Mondays off...but I really want to, lol. If I can make it happen, I will. :D |

Thank you. If you don't think being in class is worth your time, THEN DON'T ING COME! I pay good money to be there so that I can listen to a professional talk about their chosen field, not to hear you mouth off about how drunk you got this weekend.
Shut the up, or get the out. My number one biggest pet peeve. It's straight up ignorant and one of these days, I may just smack a bitch. |

My stats class is the worst. There's one group of dumb ing whores who have obviously never opened the text book, because they always ask the most retarded questions. Always asking the prof to slow down or go back, etc. We were two weeks behind every other class ffs.
Our book is extremely straight forward, for one. Two, the stuff we're doing is not much more difficult than finite mathematics.
Now, I'm not coming down on them for not getting it...I understand that math isn't everyone's strong point. But if you're having issues, get a ing tutor or do the ing reading so that you're on the same page as everyone else. Lecture time isn't supposed to be for the prof to coddle you through the course material - it's to MOVE FORWARD, not backward. UGH.
Oh, lol. Last week some stupid ing bitch asked the most retarded question about degrees of freedom and the chart used to determine critical values. I explained it very simply and clearly to her, and she goes "Thanks, but that's not the question I was asking" all snarky. Then she said to the prof, "Don't you have to do something with the numerator and the denominator?" And the prof just sighed and said "Yes, it's exactly what she(me) just explained." Lol stupid ing bitch.

Unfortunately for me, my classes are about 400 people large, so if I want to tell someone off, I put myself at risk of being centered out in front of everyone. I have been practicing my death glare though.
I learned relatively quick that sitting at the very front of the classroom is the best way to deal with this. Luckily, the idiots who want to talk all class sit near the back for the most part, so I can usually avoid them. Every once in a while though, some retard even from several rows away will decide to have a conversation and all I can hear is them talking because it bugs me so much.
I would really like to come up with something that would be a good discrete way of telling people to STFU. Maybe some sort of note that you pass to them that has STFU written on it? Haha!
As for people asking dumb questions - I have this one guy in my Psyche class... I think he may be socially challenged in some way because he doesn't seem to know when he is being completely stupid as hell, and he asks questions like "are there computer viruses for the brain?" *facepalm* Are you kidding me?! |

| Lol Jesus. My largest class is 120-30 people, and I thought that was bad. |
