What is it about the being stoned that makes music sound better?

Perhaps there's no good way to describe what happens, but something does and it's extremely captivating. I just took 3 small tokes of a pipe to have one last chill out session before I go out for some drinks later tonight. I'm not that stoned but it's enough to make me able to hear all the intricate sounds in the music I'm listening to much better and to often find myself just sitting here listening to music and suddenly concentrating on that and only that and nothing else.
Even on mdma, the best way I can describe it, is that the music doesn't sound "better", it's just that I enjoy it more (it obviously sounds better in some way, but try not to miss the point). But when I'm stoned the music sounds better in some way. |

music is still to me even when i'm high :p
the reason i enjoy listening to music when i'm stoned is because usually i can pick out things i didn't notice previously. i'm strange when stoned, i've passed the whole hysterical laughing stage a while ago, so now i just get insanely deep within my own thoughts and get blown away by the whole 'philosophical' aspect of whatever it is i'm doing
like , i remember when i was organizing my music area stoned. plugging in monitors and cdj's made me think fleets of rca cable spacecraft were plugging into fueling bays in space, shortly after i thought about the whole incident and spent probably around half an hour thinking of the possibilities future space-travel has to offer |

I too have gone music shopping while stoned out of my mind. Luckily I ended up forgetting what I wanted to do with those tracks and just scrapped them altogether :p |

Increased focus on details, less distraction from peripherals ...at least for me.
Probably why reggae dub is such sweet stoner music. You can easily get lost in the rivers of reverb. |

its all a state of mind. for me personally I hate being stoned so it doesnt have a good effect on the music. drunk on the other hand or at least high on something else, i agree with you! it does heighten the experience. its all about where your head is at that moment. it goes for being sober as well i've noticed. it all depends on my mood and willingess to enjoy the music.
the one bad thing is when you're high bad music is garunteed to sound even worse! :p |
