get ready for the political blow back, the poisoning made the weekend news report. the news segment paints the event as a drug haven, which let's be honest, it is. closing statement is that senator leland yee may seek a ban on these events at the cow palace. |

| THis isn't the first time someone has died at a massive. I think someone fell over the railing at bill graham at some skills party many, many years ago. Long ago. Now, I could be thinking ot he wrong party, venue, or even promoter. It's been a long time since I read about it and don't remember the specifics, but I think it was a Skills event at Bill Graham. |

If there is any legislation coming out of Sacramento, it won't just target the Cow Palace. I presume it would be statewide.
I am a little amazed that these massives are still being thrown, with the reputation being so bad.
I personally don't care much about these underage massives. If they make it 21+ only, I might consider going again. Problem is, kids will do drugs if they attend massives; and you can't expect them to be responsible because they are KIDS. Maybe they would stop doing drug if you allow them entrance only with parents; but that probably wouldn't make any business sense.
Anyway, I would just cross my fingers and see what happens. I won't sweat over any legislation on the massives.

We were at that party at Cal Expo. There were a series of Bliss and Gigabeatz parties at Cal Expo that were excellent events.
So sad when things like this happen. But this recent tradegy is even worse. Kids just want to have fun but they have to have a level of personal safety and responsibility.
I'm sure a lot of us have done our best to educate the younger generation about both, but as EDMDancer said, they are kids and they tend to not think any bad can happen. |

I think it's funny how the mother of a 23 year old wants the party to stop because her son decided on his own to do illegal drugs and take the riskt hat you take with it.
The only people to blame any of the ODing on are the people who bought the pills. It was their choice. And if it was a minor, then it's the parents responsibility (not Skills nor the police or anyone) to keep their kid in line, know where they are, and what they are doing.
This all said, the patients who are in the hospital have said they did not buy the pills at the event. |

Police: tainted drugs not cause of rave overdoses
The Associated Press

DALY CITY, Calif.—Authorities are ruling out the possibility that tainted drugs killed a man following a San Francisco Bay area rave concert.
Daly City police Sgt. David Mackriss said Tuesday that overdoses from various potencies of Ecstasy likely contributed to 23-year-old Anthony Mata's death Sunday.
Six other people are in critical condition at area hospitals for suspected overdoses. Another two people are in stable condition.
They were among more than 16,000 people attending the "POP 2010" music festival Saturday at the Cow Palace in Daly City.
At least 75 people were arrested for possessing or selling drugs and about 800 Ecstasy pills and $5,000 in cash were confiscated at the event. |

If it was just mdma as far as chemicals, I would assume the heat in the place will have placed a role in it. Because I haven't heard anyone NOT complain about the heat. Hell, Armin mentioned it on his twitter.
This all said, I wonder if they are basically having heat strokes (the E in combo with the sauna-heat causing their bodies to be pushed over their limits. Your body can't cool itself nearly as well in high humidity.).
The symptoms are all similar to heatstrokes. And the situation everyone that night put themselves in certainly put everyone at a much higher risk for it. Tis all I'm saying. |

| I wouldn't rule out heat exhaustion and dehydration as factors of that person's death. It was oppressively hot and humid at POP this year - so much so that, as much as I wanted to, I could not enjoy the event because I spent most of the night trying to find a cooler place and ended up not dancing because it was just too hot to move. I mean, I've been to massive events before, but this was the worst I ever experienced as far as temperature was concerned. |

I'm pretty sure heatstroke doesnt cause internal bleeding and kidney failure
And I don't think one time use of MDMA (or even multiple uses) would cause those symptoms either... I still think their pills were tainted. Unless these kids have been using the $hit for decades - that could possibly cause renal failure over time... |

| Really glad that I stayed in San Diego for Kaskade and Markus Schulz. All my friends told me that it was so hot that the the walls and ceiling were dripping with from condensation. I had a blast at ETD POP 2009, but COw Palace is a terrible venue. |
