And I don't think one time use of MDMA (or even multiple uses) would cause those symptoms either... I still think their pills were tainted. Unless these kids have been using the $hit for decades - that could possibly cause renal failure over time... |
ummm, Acute Renal Failure and internal bleeding can certainly happen with heatstroke.
And severe heatstroke is the most common reason in MDMA-related deaths...

"A DJ fell through last minute days bf we were going to release the line-up, so we reached out to Gareth. That's why he is playing so early. All the other sets were spoken for by that time.
If I had it my way he would be playing much later in the night. It is what it is....
But this is not about one DJ, it's about the experience. We hope you enjoy the show...." |
Well, the experience was subpar, to say the least. The mediocre production(other than rotating stage, there was practically no other setup), lack of ventilation, running out of water, and bad line management didn't help us forget about the bad timeslots or the overpriced tickets.
I fully realize that this also falls into what-else-did-you-expect category, though. |

Dave, that story is CLEARLY an exaggeration to "keep teens off drugs" etc. I've worked in diagnostic medicine for 10+ years and have seen multiple cases of renal failure.. and yes, dehydration could be a cause, but in such a severe case where someone DIES from it, it would have to be within the course of numerous years...... check symptom # 2. On a RELIABLE MD source "Damage from medicines, POISONS, or infections." http://www.webmd.com/a-to-z-guides/...-topic-overview I'm not trying to argue or cause debate... I just know my . I am convinced there had to be something poisonous or not right with those kids pills... |

Police: tainted drugs not cause of rave overdoses
The Associated Press

DALY CITY, Calif.—Authorities are ruling out the possibility that tainted drugs killed a man following a San Francisco Bay area rave concert.
Daly City police Sgt. David Mackriss said Tuesday that overdoses from various potencies of Ecstasy likely contributed to 23-year-old Anthony Mata's death Sunday.
Six other people are in critical condition at area hospitals for suspected overdoses. Another two people are in stable condition.
They were among more than 16,000 people attending the "POP 2010" music festival Saturday at the Cow Palace in Daly City.
At least 75 people were arrested for possessing or selling drugs and about 800 Ecstasy pills and $5,000 in cash were confiscated at the event. | Wait so it wasn't tainted drugs, but rather a straight up overdose? I just heard otherwise on KGO this morning |

lol, after the power outage during Tiesto's set a couple years back, I never thought twice about never coming back to the cow palace. I know promoters can't control everything, but that was a bit disappointing.
1015 and Ruby Skye have yet to fail me though.. had amazing, uninterrupted nights there :) |

aaand here comes the hammer...
Officials call for Cow Palace rave ban
"Public safety nightmare" decried after man's
death at weekend event marred by apparent
ecstasy overdoses.
Chronicle Breaking News 6:40 PM
"This was an accident waiting to happen," Tissier said.
"It happened now and it has happened repeatedly. At
some point, the Legislature and the governor have to
tell the ag commissioner they cannot hold these
events. It's too high a price to pay. It's not worth it."
Mata and the others taken to San Francisco General "were suffering injuries consistent
with someone taking drugs, dancing and not getting enough water and of being in a hot,
closed environment," said Rachael Kagan, a hospital spokeswoman.
The combination can cause dehydration, fevers or sudden drops in body temperature,
and kidney failure, Kagan said.
The task force commander, Marc Alcantara, said nearly all those arrested for dealing
came from outside San Mateo County.
He said the task force supported a ban on Cow Palace raves. "It's very frustrating to San
Mateo County law enforcement that this event is allowed to operate," he said.

that's not ironic. there are many people who dream of being in dark rooms filled with sweaty, semi-conscious 16 year old girls in underwear sucking on pacifiers with music so loud that no one can hear them scream :gsmile: |

THIS! I am all for center stage production if done properly. its harder to pull but if it is done right, its massive. More money needs to be invested for it though to work out. |
