Dear Morning People (pg. 2)

First thing I do after waking up is I make a beeline from my bedroom to the kitchen to make myself a mug of coffee, and as soon as I've downed that I'm good to go.

Also, staying up all night 1-2 times per week to party doesn't really help much, which I'm sure is a problem for a majority of people on this board. :p

I find drinking a large glass of milk before bed helps me in the morning. I have to go pee so bad that I have no choice but to wake up quickly.

I went through a phase where this was doctrine. I used to get up at 6:30, go for a ride, eat breakfast then go to work. Did this all through last spring and summer.

I have since become lazy and resumed my sleep in ways.

I felt like this each morning for years while I attended university downtown. It sucks :(

you're preaching to the choir, son
I have two alarm clock alarms and 2 cell phone alarms (that I have to get and move to turn off) plus I hit the snooze 4-6 times.

Yeah.. I don't do mornings. Night owl for life!

my advice? stop trying to change yourself and get a new job :p

No matter what time of day I have to get up, whether its 6 AM or 1 PM, I have to hit the snooze button at least 3-6 times. I can't just wake up. It has to be a gradual process. It drives the wife nuts when I'm the first one that has to be up.

just do it! if you have to get up for work or for school at a certain time, just in do it. complaining just makes things tier. the less you complain about things, the smaller a hassle they become- thats what i have lived and learned.

It's not about complaining, it's about the fact that we actually have a hard time going from asleep, to awake! I've genuienly been trying to get up the first time my alarm goes off, but I just can't seem to muster up enough motivation so say "hey, I'm awake, this is the best day of my life" lol

I used to be rock solid during high school, out of bed at 630 AM everyday without an alarm clock. In college, I couldn't get up for the life of me. And now during work, again I am up at the same time everyday without an alarm clock. It usually goes off in my hand when i turn over to check what time it is.

For me it was a few things:
- routine. go to sleep and wake up at the same time, every day.
- excercise. you cannot rest properly, unless you wear your body out properly.
- good food lots of water. stabalize things inside your body.
- wind down early. dont watch tv, try and do something relaxing and disengaging before going to bed.

And contrary to common belief, pot and alcohol do not help you sleep. They may help you 'pass out', but you get a restless sleep, and wake up tired, even if you 'slept' for 8 hours, it wasn't restful sleep.

ps. for those having trouble sleeping.. i suggest melatonin. so helpful

Exactly. The times I feel it the easiest to get out of bed even in the dead of winter is when I have been consistent with my sleep schedule, avoiding alcohol above 2-3 drinks at a time. Ideally I would go to bed by midnight on weekends, as I cant ever sleep past 8am.

For awhile I was getting up at 5am daily - it's an absolutely disgusting hour but if you follow a routine you get used to it.

I also stopped using my snooze button a few years ago. I set my alarm to the absolute last minute I can get up before I would be running late for work.
