And I totally understand, respect and agree (albeit to a certain extent) with where you're coming from.

... I what? I haven't really "pointed" any clips in this thread and, if you'll read through the thread before posting, you'll notice that I just defended Fox.

And, in keeping with the theme of beating a dead horse, I agree.

Your boy Ed Schultz...

My "boy"? What? Okay... :stongue:

Gee, I guess I you do a terrible ing job of reading this thread, don't you? I've pointed out multiple times that all news networks are slanted and distort portions, be it large or small, of what they air. I am by no means trying to defend one set of networks over another. Hell, I don't have TV, so I can't possibly take one side over the other in this situation.

... unless you have even a remotely small understanding of propaganda, and access to an unbiased media source.

No offense, but it's hard to listen to people who live in other countries put in their 2 cents about American media; you'd laugh at me if I got into a discussion with you over New Zealand's different media stations or newspapers of record (I believe).

I'm sorry everyone, but other than saying Fox is "bottom of the barrel journalism", quantitatively and qualitatively worse than any of the alternatives, 95% racist viewership, etc.... those are all empty opinions totally void of factual basis. 95% racist viewership? LOL... where'd you find that stat (Chris Matthews' mouth doesn't count).

It may be hard to listen but you should anyway, since the sad state of affairs seems to be that people from around the world know more about the american media and the issues at hand than americans themselves.

And saying again. MSNBC doesnt put on a big "Fair and Balanced" slogan. Fox does, and then still distorts the facts to push the republican/conser ative agenda and claims that it doesnt put a spin to its tories at all.

Also claiming that Olbermann is as bad as O'Riley, back or any of the other pudits on fox is ridiculous. While keith isnt without his faults, if he puts out a mistake he will usually correct it, he isnt rude with people he interviews and who dont agree with him and doesnt cut off the interview if he notices that its not going in his favour, nor is he as paranoid as Beck who sees fema camps and obama socialist death squads on every corner.

Nope. Fox is in a place all its own.

On January 13, Fox News' three top-rated programs for 2009 -- The O'Reilly Factor, Hannity, and Glenn Beck -- devoted a combined total of less than 7 minutes of coverage to the earthquake in Haiti, instead choosing to air such things as Beck's hour-long interview with Sarah Palin, Bill O'Reilly's discussion of Comedy Central host Jon Stewart, and Sean Hannity's advocacy for Massachusetts candidate Scott Brown's Senate campaign. By contrast, the content of MSNBC's three top-rated shows underscored the significance of the Haiti disaster; Countdown, The Rachel Maddow Show, and Hardball devoted a total of more than two hours to the earthquake.

I'm still trying to understand how anybody can say that all news is "totally void of factual basis". That pretty much renders The17sss' opinions absolutely null and void from here on out, in my opinion. Stupidest Goddamned thing I've ever heard.

I think his repeated defence of fox news did that much earlier.

People from around the world know more about the inner workings of our country and media than our own.... how exactly? By viewing their own media who is largely state controlled in many cases? Foreign media has their own biases of America and likely reports to that effect, especially when American national interests are not always aligned with other countries'. I fully acknowledge we have our fair share of mouth-breathers here... but so do all countries, as soon as you step outside of major metropolitan areas. I fail to support the insinuation that the bulk of Americans, especially those who go to college and make something of themselves, "don't get it" by fiat of being American. And, dude... what are you talking about with Olbermann? He is the most hateful, sanctimonius, snide, bitter piece of with an opinion show on cable news (after Ed Schultz)! Not rude? Admits mistakes? LOLOLOL!!!

DjWhoCares: you're doing it again... you can't say Fox is a right wing propoganda tool without accepting that MSNBC/CNN is a left wing propoganda tool. You can't call Fox out for "scare tactics" and "disingenuous" claims without doing the same for MSNBC/CNN. You have no basis to just say "B-b-but Fox is the worst at it!" Says who... MSNBC hosts? Believe it or not, I watch all of them. I tune in to Olbermann, Chris Matthews, Anderson Cooper, Hannity, O'Reilly... all of them. There is a much more elitist, condescending and angry tone to MSNBC than the rest... and people don't want to hear that so much, which is why the have the lowest rated shows.... actually Anderson Cooper hit the bottom rung on the ladder a couple months ago, but who's counting.

Idoru: My apoliogies... I got your response mixed up with someone else's.

Not what I was saying AT ALL. I was trying to say that ALL news outlets show bias in their own way... not just the one with the conservative slant. Didn't mean to make it look like I was saying all news is void of factual basis... that WOULD be moronic.
