i have one question though, what is the following called:

C, D, Eflat, F, G, Aflat, Hflat, C. This is basicly all the notes i ever use. at all. (assuming flat means -1 ie black key).

edit: this might be more right lol: C D Eb F G Ab Bb C, whats it called?

edit: forget it i googled it and it was called Natural Minor Scale, as i was assuming from my very first post...

so i got back to my earliest statement:

minor>major

depending on the context

Eb major
C minor
f dorian
g phrygian
Bb mixolydian
D locrian
ab lydian

but most likely c minor.

it can also be some werd version of F minor, G minor, Ab major, Hb major and then finaly C minor, which are VERY typical chord-transition in trance (especialy pre 2000) if u simplify to mostly 1s, 2nds and 3rds. It sounds uber cheese. basicly all these chords use the exact same like five or maybe six keys. all in the C minor scale.
Mad for Brad
you are mixing up keys, chord progressions and scales. And key does not mean the key of your piano.
19503
lol ok i give up. it was worth i try. i know what piano-keys i like then. 3 of them are black.

lol i just gotta say again, i listened to that prince track once more, and its probably the definition of what i hate in 80/90 pop music. absolutely everything in that track is a disgrace to good music imo.

I don't like Prince all that much either, but you can't deny he is a highly skilled musician.

like I said , you have some serious taste issues. That song is still relevant 30 years later. You might not like it but that is your business. As far as pop music is concerned, saying Prince sucks is like saying Beethoven sucks.
19503
i can agree that he is a skilled artist only by his success and by using success as a measure of skill. in a normal world where wise and experienced men would have heavier votes he would not had made it at all. he is as talented as tiesto. its as stupid as allowing everyone to vote equally. and beethoven isnt actually pop imo. lets not ruin this good thread now, discussing Prince can be done in MD.
Mad for Brad
did you just say prince is the same as tiesto ? Are you daft ? One is a legend among musicians and song writers whose career spanned 3 milestone musical eras, while Tiesto is a talentless piece of who plays other people's records. Honestly, perhaps you've listened to EDM a little too much for a little long than you're brain can't compute anything that doesn't have a supersaw lining and some sidechain. Next your gonna tell me Miles Davis sucks.
19503
No tiesto actually made a good track once. tiesto also is alot taller.
Mad for Brad
so did Ricky J , what is your point ? You are comparing apples and oranges. Tiesto is a hype machine sold to stupid pill munchers that don't know better. Prince is a legend among legends. You will not find any musician , producer or songwriter of notoriety talk bad about Prince. Unfortunately you are neither so my point might seem hard to grasp.

Not popularity, I am talking about his skill in writing music and playing an instrument. You know, musical skill. The guy has it.
