tore mine yesterday in soccer. I was wondering if anyone had any advice to treating it until i see the orthopedic surgeon on thursday. and yes i know elevate and ice

I've lived with a partially torn ACL since age 14. I don't know that there is anything else you can do other than rest & compress and be extremly careful if you do in fact put any weight on it. Putting any type of weight on your leg with no ACL there could risk a collapse of the joint and place uneeded/damaging stress on all the other tendons/ligaments/cartilage in your knee.

Sorry to hear this happen to you, dude.

thnx dude. ya i went to the hospital was in ER for sooo long but it was soo funny to see how differently im treated then someone of colored ethnicity. I got the A+ treatment and was dealt with such politness and quicker then everyone else. I had nurses ask if i was single and would like their daughters number. I was put into a separate waiting room, for a bit and when some indian tried to follow he got yelled at back to the other waiting room. kinda ed up but kinda kick ass.

anyways, the way it happened really pissess me off because it was so unnecessary. ball got passed back to the defender, I was playing striker. Instead of tackling the defender since he had alot of room i decided to rush hi and force the play hoping he would the pass up, which he did. however when he passed i decided to stop running by planting my left foot down and piveting to the new direction. As i did this my knee buckled and i hyper extended my knee and heard pop pop. then my knee twisted and pop pop. drop to the ground in pain and was carried to my car and i drove myself to ER

I guess taking a 4 week break wasn't good after all!

Get a hammer and smash it against your other knee a few times, helps with balance.

He doesn't have to give up hope just yet; my girlfriend from my college days played on the university's soccer team and tore each ACL once over the course of 3 years, and this was after she already tore one of them before in high school. Rehab was long and difficult, and for a couple of years afterwards she nervously tested it... but she's been playing on a pretty competitive club team now for the last 6 years or so with no more injuries (but complains like about stiffness and pain when it rains). I think she's stupid for doing so, but she loves to play. Whatever I guess.

he could get to a place where he can play again but in general it's a horrible injury. two people i work with just had surgery for that, one for the second time in two years and the other for the fourth or fifth time. keep in mind both played college sports and are pretty active people in general and the one with like five surgeries is 27. ing up your acl is serious business and no matter what forces you to change the way you exercise.

positive is that eric probably has strong leg muscles, that supposedly means quiet a bit. the 34 year old was a runner so no bulk to her legs and the doctor told her that hindered her recovery...

good luck!

So are you going to request for Jennypie to be your nurse?
Lilith
My mother was an orthopaedic surgeon, she's deceased so I'll just have to give you my advice and that is to tear the other knee's ligament so you've got a matching pair.
