I totally appreciate this, because I can get all my info in one section with out sorting through a million pages of roll call posts, random conversation, and often, multiple threads on one event :whip: It was such a mess on this board before that section, I HOPE it doesnt go :(

Edit: just because people dont post, doesnt mean they wont LOOK, which is kind of the point of the events section: to get the relevant details. For example, the Andy Moor party has almost 2000 reads.

Def see your point and I am willing to concede since I agree - it was a mess beforehand! More than the info though, I like to read what people have to say about events - both before and after. Sometimes I'll pop into event threads I have no intention of going to just to read people's thoughts. I don't know why people have more of a tendency to look and not post in the event section, but at the same time I don't think we should get rid of it altogether either..

Agreed!: to be more clear, I would like to *keep* it as such:

-one event thread in event forum with all relevant info/flyers/promoters/ticket and date information

-one random conversation thread previous to event (ie: roll call or ONE pre-event thread in the main forum posted by a NYTA)

-One Review thread

^^This seems to be working and reduces the clutter while serving everyone there needs. They can find important info without hours of searching, yet have plenty of room for discussion and hype in another.

:) :)

The events sub-forum is great for a lot of the random parties that promoters want to get the word out about without spamming. I just think certain events really warrant being in the main forum.

Off the top of my head...I am looking through the events sub-forum...The Marcus Schossow night at Cielo is going to be a great party, that I think a lot of TAs would be interested in. But Big Mike posted about it 3 weeks ago, and no one has said anything about it. Nothing...

If that was posted in the main NYTA forum, it would be a 2-3 page thread by now. And I would hardly consider a party like that of the spam nature.

I didnt say that it would be spam, I said we should keep the events to three threads as noted above. Nor did I say that events shouldnt be posted on the main forum. I actually made specific note that EACH party should have ONE pre-discussion/hype thread in the main forum for just that purpose!

Also, we can hardly say that certain events warrant anything because that is clearly subjective ;)

Agree completely with this post. BIG +1. Zack thank you for bringing this up.

NYTA mixes should stay here, and I would prefer if they werent moved. Like listening to local talent as well. Events thread though I like the new thing better. Before I used to have to read 10 pages of two people arguing with each other to finally get to the event details.
bigjimslade002
as a dj i wouldnt mind having my mixes stay in my own thread.thats one of the main things i miss.

and i agree perhaps there should be a way for promoters that have been here for awhile to have a right to post party threads.because even the club i go to is guilty of throwing tons of threads up here when they shouldnt.

9 times out of 10 the so called promoters who post threads here from the club i go to are not members here, know nothing about this site, the people, and honestly not even the edm scene in general.they post here because they see the word "trance" in the title and think its an easy way to get people to show up.i understand peoples need to promote but when your not from a site most times the regulars take notice quick and ignore the thread.

whoa whoa. I quoted you to start my own thought...I wasn't putting words into your mouth or even disagreeing with you...

My point is, that in an effort to get rid of that spam months ago, some of the legitimately great events that we all used to get souped about, are getting sort of buried in the event sub-forum.

While event quality is subjective, some are just more connected with the TA "scene" than others. For example...

http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/...forumid=105&s=1

vs.

http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/...threadid=553299

The latter has really no bearing on the TA community...I doubt any TAs went, and the guy who posted registered a name for the sole purpose of trying to get people to his party.

Who are you? You are obviously not a new poster.

Anyway, back to the thread.

I remember last summer it was a mess. Honestly, it is a lot neater now but a little too neat. Yeah, events should be on the event listings but I didn't get to see Brad's thing posted and I would have liked to read it. If it is something that supports local talent, then we should know about it especially since a lot of us go to events for locals to show support. I understand Swamper's perspective but it isn't realistic for people to visit other parts of the board if they aren't familiar with the content.

Other sites to an XP- cross post, where something is posted in two places for visibility and the locations of the XP are mentioned so people can be familiar with other areas of the board. If something like that can be implemented then it is a win win- we have our local talent and info, we also get familiar with areas of the board we didn't know about.

If people aren't participating in the event listing threads, then we only have ourselves to blame. It is a newer area for NY and we need to make it a habit to view and participate in threads. Make it part of your TA routine, view the main and then events, it will build.

Does it matter who I am to you? Since you asked I'm one of the many lurkers that visit the site often and just decided to sign up. What a coincidence that you decided to quote me, since you were one of the people that seems to want to pick fights with people and on one of the threads went back and forth with someone. I dont understand what your problem is with people, you sit behind a screen trying to start an argument all the fu*king time.
