people get upset when someone disagrees with them and call them this and that.. when someone post a rebuttal to defend them selves they pull the old

"you are an idiot i wont bother responding to you"

i think one should look in the mirror first.....

It seems that you haven't taken notice of what polkaudio has been posting in his/her 2 months here.

I have been arguing my point with those who don't agree with me so far in this thread.

Just for you bigdaddyluke, I will respond to this troll.

How am I supposed to give "facts" about how much pull TOTA has? Do clubs and promotion companies make their marketing data publicly available? I don't think so. What I said all based on anecdotal evidence and hearsay which there is little point in getting into in this thread.

If TOTA wasn't an important marketing tool for clubs and promoters, they wouldn't spend so much time promoting here.

i think the main difference is a few years ago we never had big name house/trance djs on the radio, at least not like it is now, so we brought in the biggest names of the time which happened to still be considered "underground" to a certain extent. with the growing popularity of electronic music the biggest names now are more of the commercial type which just doesnt happen to suit the elite tota crowd.

TOTA as a demographic is definitely a factor in Toronto clubland... I'm sorry that I can't prove it to you by the percentile (lol)...

there is always the old-school tota member who get's offended when someone does not give them acknowledgment towards what they believe they are

none the less, good thread

I started partying at guv in 2006
comparing the parties then to now, I see a definite change

Now is the change because back in 2006 it was an ALL NEW experience, and now in 2010 it's alot of repeated stuff?
or has the scene been changing?

My last party at guv was Canada Day because that lineup was insane and I simply knew how RAMMED guv was going to be with that line-up

Decadence this year, Armin has always satisfied me, guetta hasn't
But this party is going to be SO RAMMED that it's not worth missing the atmosphere/size of this party
and go a little wild

TOTA presence definitely plays a factor in the numbers @ the smaller clubs/ events...

I've only been going to the all access parties since freedom 07 but I do miss them having a different style in every room. For the most part the parties have gotten smaller in terms of amount of rooms open.

Another take on it is: Is attendance at these parties declining because of our scene shrinking (resulting in poorer Guv bookings), or is attendance dropping because of a failure by Guv to bring in interesting acts?

Maybe we're all just getting old and haven't yet realized that our scene isn't really our scene anymore. :p
