And when asked how much of the decision was based solely on name recognition...

Interesting. I'm pretty sure the OWN thing fell through...that article is 2 years old too.

Haven't watched this yet, but everyone's complaining about Oprah Winfrey is making me not care :o

So the moral of the story is get Planet Earth because it's the exact same thing but with David narrating?

Nothing really wrong with Oprah's voice but it is 2nd best and an unnecessary addition.

Only in the COR could people drag down such an amazing program as Life with such petty complaints as the Oprah argument.

As long as you see it in HD, it's stunning. If you can do so with David Attenborough, it's the icing on an already delicious cake.

nah...the cinematography isn't anything special anymore...we've already seen the stunning video so its no longer a driving factor in my watching experience. The narrating and educational material is what drives me to watch these documentaries now.

I thought the cinematography was significantly better. So far it looks to me that they are looking to capture the personality of the subjects, rather than provide a comprehensive education about them.

Though I didn't care for Sigourney Weaver as the narrator for Planet Earth. I did like Pierce Brosnan as the narrator for Blue Planet.
