Visually amazing, Oprah narrating makes me want to punch babies. Discovery are a bunch of gigantic ******s. If you don't want to use david, use patrick stewart or something. |
I wouldn't mind some Morgan Freeman either. |

Hell yeah Morgan Freeman. That's what I was saying the other day. |

I guess I thought everyone knew that both series were available with Attenborough or the American alternatives. I'm pretty sure they used the same scripts as well, so it's just the sound of their voices that is different.
I would've preferred Attenborough, but I don't have a Blu-Ray player, and I have an HD signal through cable, so I'm watching Life with Oprah now. Every episode has moments that literally make me "wow" out loud, something I rarely do. So amazing :eyes: |

They used someone who they thought would attract the most viewers in America, and I think it was a pretty savvy business move. Shouldn't the years of hard work everyone involved put in be rewarded with advertising dollars? |

You know who's also great? Alec Baldwin.
I watched a documentary called "Journey to the Edge of the Universe" today that is narrated by him and he did an awesome job. |

| I've always thought he was a mega douche, but I recently saw something he narrated (not sure what it was) and also heard an interview he did on NPR the other day and both times he did an excellent job. |

Some of the script writing for that was cheesy, Baldwin does have a good voice for it, again amazing visually. A lot of the graphics were rebuilt images from Hubble and newer maps of planets like mars and some of the moons of the gas giants. |

According to IMDB he's done several narrations. He would have been 100times better to do it. I think whoever posted the politics behind it was right, it's cause ole mingy got her own channel. |

I don't get it, do you guys hate everyone who is hugely successful for that reason alone? What has she done that's so bad?
Take away the legions of cows who worship her, and I think she's fine. If lifeless housewives threw money at you you'd take it too. I haven't watched her show in years, but it's fine for what it is.
Actually wait, I just remembered DVR'd her interview with Jenna Jameson. Gotta see that. |

| Morgan Freeman has done a lot of narration so I don't mind using someone who hasn't done as much for Life. I just wish the person had more gravitas in their voice. Not all of it is Oprah's fault, the music in Life is much more light-hearted than Planet Earth and the material doesn't (so far) depict as much death or bleak struggle. Ice Worlds from Planet Earth is like the saddest 1 hour of animal footage I've seen. |

It's actually very simple: she sucks at narrating a show of this caliber and doesn't hold a candle to Sir Attenborough. |
