This is a good point actually... Seattle, Portland, and Los Angeles are probably more important than Miami, Charleston, Maryland, and Savannah. Would be interesting though- you guys probably need a lot of that comes in from the East as well. It'll never happen anyway but I wouldn't mind 2 separate countries these days.

Not sure if you know the whole story, but he wasn't ever talking about moving; he was talking about going for private pay medical care situations since rather than be pushed out of businesses, insurance companies here were going to try and open facilities there and relocate American medical professionals there. But that was thwarted by the govt anyway last week.
Side note off the subject while I can catch you on here: Have you seen the HBO documentary "Reporter" about NYT columnist Nicholas Kristoff in central Africa? If so, is it any good? I have it recorded but haven't watched yet.

That's the funny part though - he'd leave the faux-socialist health system in the US for an ACTUAL socialized health care country:
quote:
With a government-sponsored network of more than 30 hospitals and more than 250 clinics throughout the country, the Caja Costarricense de Seguro Social (CCSS) has primary responsibility for providing low-cost health care services to the Costa Rican populace. Although sometimes overburdened, this system has worked well for Costa Ricans for the past 60 or so years. Open not just to Costa Rican residents, the CCSS provides affordable medical service to any foreign resident or visitor. Foreigners living in Costa Rica can join the CCSS by paying a small monthly fee--based on income--or they can buy health insurance from the state monopoly Instituto de Seguro Nacional (INS), valid with over 200 affiliated doctors, hospitals, labs, and pharmacies in the private sector.

I have not. I'm not sure how I feel about The Kristof. There are some good critiques of him out there.

The country, yes. But the system implemented by the insurance companies would have been isolated from Costa Rican socialized practices. That was the point; to set up private pay facilities with the same American doctors, hospital standards, and practices that would give people a chance to get out from under the Gubment's thumb if they choose.

Seriously, the mind boggles at the stupidity of these people.

This guy has done interviews at these rallies before, he did one for the Sarah Palin book signing, and most of them couldn't tell you a single issue that she supported or stood for. These people are so blindly stuck in the propaganda of Fox News, they can't even name a single issue in the Health Care reform bill that they disagree with! All they know is that Glenn Beck and Fox News told them that it was going to be Socialized Medicine (they don't know what that means) and that Big Evil Government is going to take over and force them to have new health care or something. Absolutely sickening that we almost let these people try to control how Health Reform was carried out.
Comrade Stalin
I wish we had a nationalized health insurance industry. Just cut all the crap out.

I would pay to see that...i think it would be amusing to observe trying to double down on the military spending (which we all know is the right wings wet dram) while cutting all the taxes (another right wing wet dram). I would actually bet on how long it would take before the whole damn thing would collapse.

Meh, you can find retards for everything. With creative editing, anyone can be a retard. Don't put so much stock in these types of interviews.

It seemed pretty clear to me from the direct questions to the answers these people gave to those questions that they didn't know what they were talking about. This wasn't a cheap editing gimmick, those people really didn't know what the Health Care Bill did. However, I'm sure that the guy interviewed several people who did know their facts and what the bill did, but overall there seemed to be an abundance of stupid people at this convention.
Lews
It's pretty clear that this isn't selective editing making people look like idiots - these are just idiots.
