I've been after a JazzMutant Lemur for some time and I'm sure that the iPad will become a cheaper 'substitute' for it. It obviously wont have the flexibility of the Lemur, but as far as functionality goes, there is massive potential with this piece of kit (from a production/DJ perspective at least).

And support Apples disgusting policy of intentionally making early versions so they can rape the fanboys and then make even more money later? No thanks, though I might buy shares in them.

so much rage in this thread, it's awesome.

anyways i'll most likely end up getting one, but, as fledz pointed out, definitely in the second or later release:

i think it's still cool for what i would use it for: music applications, and games.. they're already awesome on my ipod touch, they would be super-awesome on the bigger screen, and the ipad is ing cheap compared to a lot of comparable musical equipment in the market, and far more flexible :)

I don't feel like I am losing anything by purchasing the first gen

works super well. I like it. I need to get a cover for it, but other than that, big screen is great for movies and will be amazing on long trips.

if you already have an e-reader and ipod touch don't bother with this though. I have neither, but now I have both!

how long does its battery last, does anyone know?

I'll get one but the cheapest one, 16GB model because Apple will release a better version next year and then i will probably get a bigger capacity one. If i don't like it then I won't get the next version.

I'm still using the 3G iPhone and not 3GS and probably won't get the new one they keep on talking about. As long as I get most of the functionality of the iPhone, i'm happy with it. Going from a 3megapixel camera to 3.5 or whatever it did from 3G to 3GS didn't really sell me, neither did video recording or the slightly faster CPU and double memory. the 3G version for me is working as fast it needs to for me and generally with phones i only get a new one every 3 year cycle.

Engadget reported that with fairly heavy use they still managed to get close to 11hrs of battery life out of it which is pretty impressive
