The traditional iSuppli component breakdowns that attempt to put a neat little number on what a product actually costs to build appeal to a primal part of us, the part of us that wants to know, "Did I get screwed?"
"How much is a company making off of me? Was I a sucker?" It's a clever gambit. Because everybody wants to know. You can't help it.
I's a tricky thing, though, to finger how many dollars were poured into, for instance, each and every iPad out there. Even if you don't want to count research and development, marketing, and of all the indirect cost that goes into a product, what Apple pays for components might be different than what iSuppli estimates, as does what it costs to put together.
But whatever, we just want to see the numbers. Here's the highlights of what iSuppli says went into the iPad:
• $95 touchscreen display (multitouch is pricey)
• $26.80 processor built by Samsung
• $29.50 16GB memory; $59 32GB memory; $118 64GB memory
• $10.50 aluminum back
It comes to a total of $259.60 in guts for the 16GB model, $289.10 in the 32GB model and $348.10 in the 64GB model. Okay! That was fun. Do you feel properly infuriated now?
Several problems have been reported with the Apple iPad in that some say it is over heating, some say WiFi connectivity is having issues and some say they have power issues after switching off.
Apple [AAPL] have responded to the WiFi issues and provided a set of instructions of how to fix wifi on the Apple iPad. Basically they say the issues can be caused by dual-band routers where they suggest splitting the bands to make it easier. Another suggestion mentions resetting the network settings on the iPad and the final idea is to double check the firmware on the router you are connecting to, to make sure it’s running the latest.
Of course it’s a hard one to track down, but with many different routers being available, some will have issues. I know from my own experience that an old D-Link router I had used to cause wireless networking issues with some devices that connected to it.

Symptoms:
Under certain conditions, iPad may not automatically rejoin a known Wi-Fi network after restart or waking from sleep. This can occur with some third-party Wi-Fi routers that are dual-band capable when:
* Using the same network name for each network
* Using different security settings for each network
Resolution:
If you encounter this issue, try the following:
* Create separate Wi-Fi network names to identify each band. This can be done easily by appending one or more characters to the current network name. (Example: Add a G to the 802.11b/g network name and an N to the 802.11n network name.)
* Ensure that both networks use the same security type (WEP, WPA, WPA2, and so on)
* If the issue persists, reset your network settings using Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Note: Always ensure that your Wi-Fi router firmware is up to date.

New OS4 features which include multitasking (lol), App folders, ibooks app, new mail app, fast app switching, Per-app SMS and alerts,iAd Advertising, and game center which is like xbox live for the iphone.
Comes out for the 3gs and the future iphone in the summer, ipad in the fall. The iPhone 3g won't support multitasking, and the first gen iphone wont be getting the update at all.
Only one reason left to jailbreak my 3GS when the update comes out, and that is only for the awesome themes

I own two iPods, I've looked at an iPhone with quite a lot of interest and I'm definitely interested in the iPad (long term) so my head is in the right space. I'm just more realistic and critical than many Apple fanboys.
