OK... my review of Bal en Blanc...

The lineup was the biggest I've ever seen for a Bal en Blanc. But as Malek said, thanks to the weather being warm a lot of people left their jackets at home so the yearly bottleneck did not occur. The staff outside was friendly and courteous. Very professional.

The setup in both the house and trance room was amazing. Obviously the Boombox was wicked but the house room had a nice warm vibe to it. I used to bitch that Bal en Blanc didn't spend enough money on decor/lights but WOW they have quickly realized the importance in production value.

The people were beautiful. Whether gay or straight everyone was sparkling. Big smiles, a warm vibe, just perfect environment for a great party. And some of the outfits the girls had on... ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

TRANCE:

I did not enjoy IM but I know a lot of people who did. Music was wayyy too insane for that time of the night... or for anytime of night PERIOD. I enjoyed Wizz and Insomnia much more. A great opening set from two of Montreal's best trance DJs IMO. Sander came on and rocked it proper. A little bit of technical issues with the Boombox but a couple of songs in and it came alive.

Did you guys know they were using a PS3 remote to control the boombox? Seriously!

Onto Ferry who played a little too soft for my opinion - maybe he didn't know Bal en Blanc people like their trance hard and not fluffy. But overall he delivered a nice set full of melodic vocals and uplifting sounds. Props for the Coldplay (The Scientist) song and the visuals that went with it. Can't wait to show you guys what that video looks like... EPIC!

Markus.. as people have already stated... stole the show. Top form! Dirty tech-trance ridden tunes that went off like bombs. Markus, most likely due to his involvement with last years Bal, realizes that MTL crowds like their trance hard!

Sied was great, however, by that time in the morning trance is beginning to all sound the same. But probs for closing with the Offer Nissim track!

HOUSE:

Etienne rocked the house room and got everyone in a dancing mood. Humble, down the earth and a great guy. Big things to come with Etienne mark my words!

Ceaser was on the dot and delivered a great techy, proggy, filthy set. Awesome!

LMFAO, I dunno why people say they did so badly, I think considering that the night was moving into the "clubby" niveau, they did great. They got the crowd moving, esp the girls, and warmed everyone up for David.

David came on looking a little groggy. 45 minutes in and he started dropping bombs. Sure it's nothing like Etiennes set or Ceasers set but guys, come on, it's David Guetta. He plays recognizable clubby music. The vibe when David got into his groove was unparalleled. The room just exploded with every song, esp when he kept teasing them with the loop of "The World is Mine." Overall, excellent.

P.S: Watching three hot police officers trying not to dance but swaying to his music was a highlight for me. They looked like the type to love that kind of music but since they were on today they had to hold back. At least they swayed a little bit. Shows you the power of music. :P

Ana Paul came on and as others said the room divided down the middle. Who cares! She ripped the place apart! First time seeing Ana live and anyone who loves house music would've been in heaven. Now I know why she keeps getting booked in MTL.

And finally, Mr. Morales. I underestimated him. David slowed the room down with Ferrer's HEY HEY and the tune got everyone in the right vibe. He threw in some tribally house tracks later on but overall, this is the song that really impressed me. A great way to end the night.

This was by far my best Bal en Blanc. The management has gotten the message and delivered the goods. Security, in overwhelming numbers, made everyone feel safe. The evolusante (over whatever they were called) did a great job at helping anyone who has taken too much or just doesnt feel well. Yeah I saw a couple of stretchers with people but it's a massive party, this happens. What makes a difference is knowing that if something bad is to happen you will be taken care of by the most trained and professional people.

This 16th edition cements the fact that Bal en Blanc is the leader in the Montreal massive party scene. I can only see it get better and better from here on.

Before I say what I want to say, I just want to apologize in advance if I offend the people concerned. The girls who announced the DJs at BeB (I think it's the same one(s) that were there at Resolution) sound like complete idiots. Screaming out the name of the DJs like total dumb s, total turn off. BeB, learn something from ID&T and get yourself a real Master of Ceremony, someone who can truly establish anticipation and excitement in the crowd. Last thing I want to hear at 7am is a bunch of girls that sound like they just got back from Mardi Gras. Again, if the announcer is a MTLTA, sorry! Better luck next time, hon'!

At least they were not screaming during breakdowns like a lot of MCs does in raves in Europe... TOTAL TURNOFF

I think that when they pay a real master of ceremony, the guy feels the need to always be talkin, which is total ! As long as they only talk in the intros/outros, i'll be okay with that!
