I think it would be hard to make an argument against that actually.

There's really nothing for me to say (but of course i will) after highroller tho, he literally has the exact same opinion as I do, I don't think i could have said it better.

Lets face it, Guvernment doesn't make the same bucks off us underground minded folk that it used too.

And it IS a business, never has anyone doubted it....like I said on FB, i don't BLAME them, if I was charles and co. i'd do the exact same thing...thats a big building to fill, and the market has DEF changed slightly in the last 3 years at least.

My opinion is what it is because i'm getting old, and i SEVERELY miss the way things USED to be. Anyone that knows me knows i'm a sucker for nostalgia...

That doesnt mean they (guv) aren't alienating people tho, they are.....our bucks just dont taste the same as they tasted a few years ago.

Circa had the same mentality however, and look where it got them. They were booking the mainstream OF the mainstream....I think in time this will hurt guv, rather than help it short term, but that remains to be seen, and I dont have a business OR marketing degree to back up my opinion

The mainstream vs underground debate will never be solved one way or the other.....there's two sides to the coin.

Its just interesting to me to see who has what opinion and WHY they have said opinion.

At the end of the day, at least we're all engaged and talking.

And I'm sure the higher ups, are ALWAYS listening.

Why does it bother you so much that people are being vocal about their disappointment in the line-up this year?

People are disappointed because Guv has shifted their focus to a different type of music, effectively alienating a crowd who has gone to Guv's all-access Canada Day event for years.

On another note, sure it will be packed and Guv will make a ton of money, but why should we care about that? Guv has clearly taken the easy way out to make as much money as possible. This is likely a last ditch effort to fill their coffers before they get shut down in the not so distant future for the waterfront development project.

The line-up and concept of this party is void of creativity, is watered down, and geared towards the lowest common denominator type of clubber. Sure Guv will make tons of money, but good for them.

The Guv these days is a shadow of its former self, and is basically a mainstream club that does the rare forward-thinking, interesting event.

couldn't have said it better myself..

What a garbage of a lineup this year, I guess I will save myself for Liebing @ Circus :p

This lineup sucks...I guess Avicii is kinda cool but I don't really care for JFK or anyone else.

It makes the Dubfire/Steve Lawler thingy in Canada Day 08 look like the WMC.
