Balance is definitely key. Some DJs I find stay SO true to their sound that they don't give a if the crowd is feeling it or not and they play more for themselves than the people. But then on the other end, some DJs play purely for the crowd and then lose their sense of individuality.
Good post Big Boss.
IMO a 3 hour time slot should be the shortest time slot available. My preference would be 5 on average. |
Yep. I agree for sure. |

if your a good dj & a booker someone will book you
why not give djs who work hard for you some time to do there thing give them soem shine as a booker tahst your job
what credible booker would take time from a dj just to pimp himself?
a booker pimps himself by the acts he brings in & how he can elevate thoose acts not by showing he can book himself |
i wouldnt know...i know absolutely nothing about bookings...
and i dont think apocalypto is a booker...he looks more like a mayan.lol |

no booker should be a dj...its total conflic of interest for the evnet and the club/venue |
Bollocks. I know more than a few DJs who have played at events they've organised. , the entire Speed (Records) crew used to book themselves in alongside their headliners. Of course, they actually had the talent to back it up.
Maybe you're referring to promoters who, when it boils down to it, really aren't that good at DJing, but who book themselves in to play anyway, purely because their frail egos couldn't imagine it otherwise. Plenty of that sort around. |

Conflict of interest? Seriously? Guys it's a DJ line up.
I don't think there's anything "wrong" with a promoter playing his/her own parties - if they suck then so will the parties, and both the dj and the party won't be successful. These things have a way of sorting themselves out you know. |

Booking & Talent should not mix the only time a booker should ever get involved is to put over talent or if talent doesnt show up
if im a booker & I take up time to put myself over before I get my talent over or to get put myself in a good postion b4 the talent thats not a good look |

But you aren't a booker, so the reality of the situation is that you have no ing clue as to what you're talking about.
The gibberish in your head that you think is correct doesn't count as actual experience. |

lol he applies that way of 'thinking' to 'djing and producing' if that's what you want to call what he does. |

If a booker wnats to be a dj give him the 9pm-10 slot & work his way up he shouldnt leapfrog his talent because hes booking
I know thats maybe something you would do you know play before a headliner because you booked yoursel
while the local dj who has been working hard doesnt get that chance to elevate himself because of someone who uses there power to inject themselves
If they could hang as a dj they wouldnt need to book themselves bside international acts they should open for local ones
are you a booker?
do you book yourself bside the headliner over the dj whoose been working hard for you? |

You're an idiot, that's not what's happening at all w "apocalypto". If anything he gives people chances before he plays. |

This isnt even about apocolipto
but if you want
who is apocolipto muscially? I checked his music & check his rates only thing he has going for him is he works for or with the venues I neevr seen him booked anywhere else
since apocolipto is a booker & a great dj he should warm up the crowd at 9pm then give a shot to ppl after he plays bump himself down so the guys he books get a chance to play before the headliner comes on |
