Yeah... I understand that
But Im saying... Summer is here, so theres really no university students....
And the world is changing... before it only used to be EDM in basement clubs, and guv... Now more and more people are listening to it.... House in general was rare and barely heard.... Now theres so much more...
Alot of my friends are in univesity in waterloo... and will not come to tabu anymore... and I met them in the clubs... has to say something
but im saying it doesn't hurt
And theres also never been ANYTHING like Tabu in this location, or even waterloo... |

Windsor is a university town (/lunch bucket town) and Remo really built up EDM here. I can't tell you how many EDM clubs we had that flopped before Boom Boom Room finally stuck. A very small following eventually grew, and while still small compared to Toronto standards, we have a good scene going on here and a LARGE portion of them are university students.
That's why I think that a full on EDM club may not work, but if you have an EDM night once or twice a month, you can start introducing it to ppl, and it's possible it'll catch on. We have a lot of TOTAs in that area too.
The advantage of BBR though is that there's two floors. Friday nights only the main floor is open with Top 40, but Saturday's the main floor is Top 40 and the top floor EDM. Some Friday's Remo opens the top floor and has EDM there too. The top 40 ppl often venture up to the good floor and rock it out.

Yeah it takes alot to get going, its work but once it gets going...than we have something right?
The thing is Tabu is Joined with 140 West, Fridays is pure top 40, we always kept it that way, Saturday was our house night, and EDM later on in the night.... 140 West was always Top 40 and commercial and etc right...never opened the door between the two
But now everynight were open we have the door open, and people can go to each club as it is...they advertise it as 2 sounds 2 club 1 roof... but if its 2 top 40 thats not 2 sounds, i might as well have ONE dj, and put a 10 minute delay on it and feed into the other club, sad really but w/e lol
Im not talking about a full EDM seen at all, but like House is not full...esp when you play commercial cheese. mash up cheese etc...
Every night we used to close...we'd still have people jamming to Trance, Prog, Tech, Tribal, etc atleast like 90 people.... and they're not regulars.... so I know theres a possiblity.... |

Omg I can't read your posts anymore. I can't deal with the ... ... ... ... ... ...
Anyway, if you have 2 clubs, 1 roof that format has a higher chance of working IMO if you have Top 40 in the main room, and house in the other. Then people can go back and forth. Like I said, that's what works at BBR, and we have the Top 40 ppl hang out in the house room for awhile and then go back to Top 40. At least it opens their eyes to the music, and then they come back just for the house next time. |

Yeah Thats what Im hoping now, opening the door we never had before, so people can go back and fourth.
But lets be honest here, sucks doing lighting to top 40, I dont have an amazing ceiling, 6 Strobe Lights, 12 Moving Heads, and a 10 Watt White laser for nothing? lol |

first of all thats bull. there was a bunch of people spinning house there in the past year or more. not all the time but it was intimate and it was ing wicked.

you choose to completely ignore this gig and didnt give it any love. it was house night, it was in kitchener and yet nothing. do you really wanna do something about house nights in kw or do you just want people to come to your club?? because, things are happening, slow paced but its going on.
third and most important of all, you should listen to everything chemenhanced has to say. he is not trying to on your parade, everything he says is 100% true. you wanna have a weekly night?? forget about it, aint gonna happen.
you should contact people who were behind that beforementioned gig, talk to them and see whats up. |

But ya, try it out. Weed house music in in small doses and I'm sure it'll catch on a bit more. |

How did i completly ignore that gig? I work EVERY weekend, and I never get a night off. I cant even go to guv special events cause Im normally working. I get paid, I need to live, I dont see anyone else doing my job, or knows how to do it. IM NOT A CLUB OWNER if thats what you're thinking.
Of course I want people to come to Tabu, Esp people who listen to the same music, and want to enjoy the lightshow I put on for them as well, like the feeling I get when i go to Guv and Listen and watch to the dj mix the music, and Lightshow put on.
I am listening, but I think we can do stuff, and as you know i pretipated in that thread as well.
And Im not gonna forget about it. If you know 140 Played house, before. Well it doesn't anymore, only top 40 and really mainstream/commercial cheese. It was succeding before, I believe it can happen, I have hope. and yes its slowly changing, but we can have one nigtht a week, helping change that, doesn't hurt?
and thanks I will try it, I just need help from everyone, So the new manager can see thats its not "just" crap 40 that everyone wants to hear! |

if thats what the new managers (im guessing its the 4d events guys) want to do then whatever. let them be followers in waterloo rather than innovators.
when i was there last (and from what i heard about the time before when m&s were playing there) there is a lot of potential for an EDM night there. |

Not from 4d events, from Mansion, Wetbar etc etc, those guys. he acts like he knows waterloo, hes never been here before. comes from toronto, he says he loves house... but i dont believe him at all, but id rather them be innovators
I know, you shoulda seen the first time m&s were there, even more live...best time Ive ever had at Tabu, and I agree, Jason, I dont know but maybe you could do an event there, potential, I dont know.
And we were supposed to have them 2 more times, guess what, they didn't like the new management and are now coming back, say goodbye to big names in waterloo, just, sucks. :( |
