ya, but that doesn't mean use a pic with only dudes. Everyone knows that women bring both men & women to clubs. Nothing scares away women (and normal dudes) than a club that looks to be full of only guys. Unless it's on Church st. numsayin'? #realtalk

@Goran Yeah tabu used to be something I agree, I used to enjoy going there to work, was fun, not it just feels like work everytime Im there. I hate what it has become, it wasn't our dream for it to be the way ti is now. I agree, But when it always filled up, it would be the bar, than the sides, than the dance floor, but ive found a way to get some people on the dance floor now, keep it dark, but the new manager loves coming up and ing around pressing buttons (that he doesn't know what they do) and making it bright as day, its but w/e.
Uh huh, there was more plans than just Manzone & Strong, but they just wanna make money and not actually have a real club/scene going on... W/e, Im still trying to get our house saturdays back, thats why I made this dicussion here and on Tabus page(shows up as Tabu though, not my name)
It sucks for me that these events are on Saturdays, but I might be able to stop in caesers for a few minutes.
@hax-a-million Ryan, well, is weird, he doesn't like bringing in people to help, he'd rather do it himself(these new managers was not his choice), I coulda had deadmau5 there for him, but he said no to the person who was gonna bring him in, and tried himself, did it ever happen, no. but now you can contact them and bring things/people in, Ill even give the # to Tabu lol

Its a real good sign if they go nuts to the house, club house yeah but im excited at the new club generation, if they like that...eventually they'll get the feeling to EDM.
Kurtbradd is the most Legit, and same with Legal E if they never let them spin stuff that would change that place soon as we try, manager is a ing tool "we're not guvernment here, why do you think we are" and thank you, finally im not the only one who sees that with him and his repeative sets, same track orders and songs from a year ago, exact same order, he thinks hes the best in everything, and that people come here for him haha. kinda sad.. ive been trying to get rid of him, but ryan always felt bad because djing was his only job..... but you'd be surprised how many know/come for kurtbradd there... not a huge dj draw but for kw its good. and i know man i know, but i first gotta prove that people dont come to tabu for top 40
140 is closed on thursdays for the summer like last year, same with tabu, they WILL open for special events. i know a few people planning to have electro/house parties there over the summer on thursdays
@Stilez, it was a picture from trance addict, why not use it, I could use another picture if I wanted or more pics, it was just a preview

have you seen the women at waterloo though? lol

however those laurier girls are on another level... way smaller school but their average talent totally destroys waterloo. if i had been in engineering i would provide some kind of graph. unfortunately i went to waterloo for arts (and by that i mean co-op)
chris_leslie7
Ohh, dont get me wrong most of those laurier girls are gorgeous, but the waterloo girls are sometimes not, it must be something about laurier and the arts like you said. Im sure the egineering students care more about school than clubs/music
hahaha provide a graph, oh man what would it be based on?
hax-a-million
haha i remember legal e... he used to always roll into 140 when we were there and ask us for new tracks. his last thurs night at fubar they actually had a huge turnout, hard not to feel bad for him.

but seriously, enough bad djs have residencies you can't let them stay out of sympathy.

well, in that pic im not looking at the dudes. im looking at the lighting with a general crowd below it.

In order for an EDM club to work in KW you need to find a way to keep KW people from going to Toronto and you need to find a way to bring people in from the surrounding area. There is a large population base to get people from but most people are going to travel to Toronto instead of KW to go out.

The idea of having a club with two rooms (one top 40 and one EDM) sounds like a good idea but I still think you will run into the same problem Purple Room runs into. People will come in and listen for a couple tracks and then go back into the other room. When given the choice the people who like top 40 but kinda like EDM will always go for the Top 40.

As much as I hate to say it, a KW club has to bring in the likes of Tiesto or Armin for a gig. The area needs the "cheesy" music in order to grab people's attention. You bring in the cheesy music and introduce them to the other sides of EDM while they are there. The problem is you can't stop at just one off events...you need to keep it going with cheesy music week in and week out...probably for months on end before you can switch off to other music.

There are a lot of choices in KW for students to go for music. If you can get a solid base of locals to go to the club then you have a chance at making something successful. Like I said before, you need a smaller club and a faithful 200 to 300 people who are going to show up every weekend, regardless of what is going on elsewhere. You build up that base and then add the university crowd and you can have something successful. The problem is I don't think there is that base group that will show up every weekend.

I really don't have a solution to the problem and I hope you guys can figure it out but I've seen people try to make it work for 15 years and to this day there still isn't a scene that will hold down one night a week, let alone more then one night.
