| quote: | | You know, a couple of days after the health care bill had been signed into law Obama ran around all over the country saying, “Hey, you know, I’m looking around. The earth hadn’t opened up. There’s no Armageddon out there. The birds are still chirping.” I think the earth has opened up. God may have replied. This volcano in Iceland has grounded more airplanes — airspace has more affected — than even after 9/11 because of this plume, because of this ash cloud over Northern and Western Europe. At the Paris airport they’re telling people to head to the train station to catch trains out of France, and when people get to the train station they’re telling people, “There aren’t any seats until at least April 22nd,” basically a week from now. It’s got everybody in a shutdown. Earth has opened up. I don’t know whether it’s a rebirth or Armageddon. Hopefully it’s a rebirth, God speaking. |
Isn't he supposed to be in Costa Rica or something? |

"which has so many letteres in it, i'm not going to even try to pronounce it"
HAHAHAH AMEN!
How do they come up with these names in Iceland? My theory is they put their cats on top of the keyboard while Microsoft Word is running, let it lick itself for a couple of seconds, see what string of letters it incidentally ends up typing, and then uses that as a new word.
gjoittwnnrtwonwr .. is that an Icelandic word now? |

“Ey(ja)” is the Icelandic word for island. “Fjall(a)” means mountain. “Jökull” is glacier.
So this volcano is called "Island Mountain Glacier" ;) |

Well, it comes from the Low Germanic word "daler", from German "taler" (1540, later thaler), abbreviation of Joachimstaler, literally "(gulden) of Joachimstal," coin minted 1519 from silver from mine opened 1516 near Joachimstal, town in Erzgebirge Mountains in northwest Bohemia. The German word "Tal" is cognate with Eng. "Dale" (which comes from the O.E. dæl, from P.Gmc. *dalan "valley"). The Continental Congress July 6, 1785, adopted dollar when it set up U.S. currency, on suggestion of Gouverneur Morris and Thomas Jefferson, because the term was widely known but not British.
That's why a "dollar" is called a dollar, I'm not making it up :p |
