Igonre fixing your english, its fine your not writing essays for an exam, that comment is plain rude!
As some have said there IS money to be made but the way to go about it will be different, sometimes the same, but its all down to how much you put into it. This goes for marketing yourself, getting gigs, making good tracks, getting your music out there, networking, trying to sign to an agency.
If there was no money then why are there people making a good living from it right now? Even if you arent hitting the big time or what ever your goals are, just playing a few gigs and continuely producing & signing your music will get you on your way, then you can move up to bigger things.
If this is something you want to do full time though a day job will be needed, until you are ready to quit that day job. To survive on just music isnt impossible, I'm not saying you couldnt but for now until you have a regular amount of gigs and signings of your releases stick with the day job. You'll know when its the right time to leave.
All I can say is let the music do the talking. When you have tracks that people like, and you can keep that going, things will happen for you, what ever direction you wish to take things. I would have to say though doing gigs is where the money is at, so its worth doing that also. |
Cheers! very good
IMO being an artist is a profession. Like if you want to be an Engineer you'll start as a trainee. And you may be just stay an average engineer with an average money for the rest of your life.
However if you know how to do you networking, you may find yourself being a leader engineer, and if you are clever then you can become an engineering company owner. And if you know how to deal with it then you may be a very successful guy and get heaps of money.
Same would happen to an artist I guess. Many guys take it seriously enough to survive with that. The point is how serious do you take. Usually, people that just take it as their free drinking, free passes and the ladies, end with almost nothing. Generally.
And of course like any market, the artist sometimes needs to know if the market is good. That why I started the thread. You are making me believe there is money to be done, fingers crossed, here we go again.

| A mastering guy said to me that producers that are out there now making money do not have the time nor inclanation for forums! |

I've got a little appartment in East Germany which cost me next to nothing (a little investment). Berlin has always been a cultural draw for artistes. |

Sorry to go off topic, but in response to the 2 guys about the appartment in E Germany.
Well, I'm a mad impulsive person sometimes. I bought a block of 19 communist era concrete clad appartments with a German freind for 70,000 euros. We get a resonable rent yield from them.
They are far from Berlin.
Thing is I read some producers have moved recently from Berlin to London as they reckon it's easier to network and hussle in EDM business here. |

If you believe in what you do, then you can do well and if you make good music. The market is fine and it will always be. People have been working in it for years and will always do that, the fact that its still here and there is new music out there, people are going to clubs, people are looking for new music proves its there for the taking. All down to hard work and as some have said dedication. |
