IGK, do you have a girlfriend that doesn't wear velcro shoes?

I guess I have to spell it out for you, IGK.

I love my boyfriend very much.

I do not want to leave him.

He talks to me about it quite a bit about both jobs, often breaking the rules about what he legally can and cannot share, so I have a thorough understanding of what he is going through right now.

I am worried about his mental health and happiness during this stressful time.

I was looking for suggestions from a plethora of men, online and IRL.

I am making educated decisions based on my in-depth knowledge of my boyfriend, combined with my own ideas, plus suggestions from other people.

It's a weird time, so I feel it calls for some slight changes.
Nothing to run away from :D

Yeah? What do you have against velcro shoes, Bas? Sneakers, to be exact. Dick.

Oh, and it will all be over in June :D
Come next September, he's only going to be teaching. No second job next year.

This is totally not a deal breaker in the slightest. I have no idea how my original post suggested that I wanted to end things :stongue:

I just wanted ideas on how to lift the poor dude's spirits until he reaches the end of the tunnel.

It's okay, Ania. Suicide is not an easy decision for anyone.

What do you mean this isn't Twitter?

If the root of the problem is he works too much and is at a high stress job, neither of which is he willing to change then how do you think things are going to resolve themselves?

edit: i see your post about it being short term work situation.

Have you mentioned this to him? Have you mentioned that you are a bit worried about your future with him if he devotes himself to his career to a fault? There's nothing wrong with naked honesty in this case, when it is sincere.

As Jenny already excellently said, nobody knows just what they want, especially not until they arrive there. Guys especially want to know that their work is fulfilling to them, so he is exerting that in the best way that he can, but so far as you're concerned to him, he would probably like to know that you're there for him at any time as well. We all have ways of taking this for granted at times, and flipping out on him is obviously the last thing you should do, but if you're in the cave awaiting him, I don't think there is terribly much more you can do to please him. If that is truly not what you want, then by all means, listen to IGK. But I don't think that's what you want, so just be patient with him. You can gauge him exponentially better than any of us can, so be honest with yourself - are your sacrifices, to which we must all make at times, seen in him as well? Does he give any ground to you in return? Will he?

Renzo
Aw, Hal has feelings.
