For the last year or so, the majority of parties I've gone to were in brooklyn warehouses and lofts. For the most part they are cold, wide open spaces with plenty of room to move around and lots of little nooks and crannies to get lost in.

This weekend, I went to see Calderone at Santos. First time there, place was jam packed, people knocking around and pushing into you, and it was disgustingly hot on the dance floor and the beats were insanely loud. But, aside from the influx of he-she's, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I prob lost 5 lbs from sweating like a dog, but it was awesome. It'd been a while since I was in that kind of clubby atmosphere where you can barely breathe being surrounded be all the other knuckleheads enjoying themselves just like you are, but its was great in its own way.A real nostalgic feel at a new venue. Reminded me of the good old days.

I didn't know that benny bennassi had such a big following, kind of like i didnt know ATB packed out clubs across North America. I guess it all depends on how "mainstream" the djs are. I def like all the trance headliners (PVD, AVB, Tiesto, etc) so i expect a big crowd and a packed club when they play. But I guess because most of the DJs I want to see are not as well known and the nights I out aren't as packed.

i find it so odd that so many of you hate pacha and that this took place. yes im aware that you all go there more than i and i know the place gets packed but i have been there roughly 12-15 times and have never had a bad time with the music, crowd, etc nor has it ever been as packed as was stated originally. i love pacha.

seriously.. i never really had a bad time and never had a problem with overcrowding. i just dont really go if someone big is spinning. for example if tiesto was spinning there, or JP or someone retarded with a big name who i dont really care for then i would avoid the place. but on low key nights where its just res dj's or local house music the DF is actually pretty open and you can have a good time. Where else besides pacha in nyc has a decent dance floor?? and i still dont understand when people say "crowd" like who gives a fukk what do you guys get picked on or something who gives a flying fukk about who goes there? i go with my friends and we stay together and have a good time. Unless someone wants to fight me or something (which never happens) then i dont pay attention to anyone.

Where exactly, bc this is always better than a club imo. What are you talking about anyway "underground rave scenes" or some .
trancension
One reason why I usually get to shows early. I can find the bathrooms, the fire exits and can find my spot on the dance floor -- all before the crowd starts to dominate the club.

Wtf man!! Now everyone knows!!! How you gonna narc on the underground like that?!? LOL!!

@LinX The two crews he mentioned, Resolute and blkmarket, throw excellent parties with amazing talent, they know what's up. Also, there are a bunch of other guys doing similar stuff right now. Check residentadvisor.net and you can basically assume any party being thrown at a TBA location and mostly techy lineup is gonna be something along these lines: warehouse/loft/synagogue(been to a bunch of these lately lol) etc..The sketchier the neighborhood the better usually lol. Get to know folks in the techno scene and you'll find out about more low key , if that's your thing.

As far as the rave scene goes, I used to go to more of these parties when I was younger cause they offered some harder music that I was into at the time, also dnb, but these days I might hit one once in a blue depending on who's playing(theres still some clasic acts that I like to see). The problem I have, and most will agree, is that there a level of immaturity and ignorance in that scene that can be a bit of an eyesore and can get annoying. Plus you'd probably feel stange partying with a bunch of kids when some of these events are all ages.

Thats really the only thing that stopped me from getting back into the rave scene (if there is really anthing left of it) was the age thing. im 27 now, havent been to a rave since i was like 20 (and i even felt old back then) i used to make fun of the "older kids" that would show up to raves now i would be one of them LOL! so i dunno what to do i just miss that vibe, the open dance floors, true friends, good peoples who were all about the music and not the money etc. etc.

Yea i hear ya. The rave scene is still there with a lot of the same old faces, a lot of new young kandi kids :wtf:, and a strange mix of hybrid hipster/ravers :conf:

Ultimately, I think you can find good people who are into the music, good vibes, true friends and all that good stuff just about anywhere with some work. It might sound cliche, but it's really up to you in the end. I think, with the right attitude, you can take a ty spot and a beat crowd, and still enjoy yourself. Room to dance is a definitly a bonus though. :D

Anyway check out those parties mentioned before sometime, you wont be disappoint.

honestly, my boys over at gradient mag are pretty tight with all those warehouse cool guys. if you check their website every week you're sure to find info on the anti-club dance scene in NY

lol just went to their site... my point illustrated...
