LOL, this is why I say that you're dense on purpose. Scientific advancements in the fields of medicine, biology, etc. are not driven by fear of dying but by enhancement of life.

Obviously not all scientific advancements are driven by this fear - if you read my OP carefully, you'd see I said 'a great deal'.
