| I dunno, nothing spectacular. Just doing the things I'm supposed to be doing and doing them well. Ask me next year when I finally graduate, lol. Weeeee! |

Relatively major accomplishments the past year:
1. Graduated from university with top class honours.
2. Moved into my own place in a major city.
3. Worked on a major videogame title and got my name in the credits (the game is Blur, it rocks, buy it).
4. Starting writing for 40,000 regular readers on a website (although sadly that's now over).
I spend a lot of time feeling frustrated because I've not yet found a regular job after university, but on reflection I've not done badly in the last 12 months. |

that's awesome dude. I've seen the commercials for the game a couple of times on tv, and it looks like a nice kids game. I've worked with a video game called Wizard 101 (yeah yeah harry potter knockoff), but it has done farely well since the initial openeing in 2008.
and yes finding a regular job after university sucks. i didn't really land a stable regular job until 4 years after graduating. it was all temp/contract to dead end jobs. :( |

I woke up a woman in March by flicking her nipples until she finally awoke. Took me about three minutes.
I'm going for a minute and a half next time. |

They fired me, for showing a lack of respect towards the editorial team. Basically I thought the editors were ing useless and wasn't exactly diplomatic when I thought they'd made a bad call. Shame, as I was really starting to produce some good writing towards the end, had some lead features and was getting a lot of great promos/ties with record labels. I consider my review of that Echodub compilation possibly the finest piece of music journalism I've ever been able to muster. It's a pity you'll never get to read my Young American Primitive review.
I'm currently taking a break from having to listen to and write about something every single week and I'm looking at freelancing a couple of articles to some sites while I decide what to do next. While most editors out there are better than the ones I was working with, there aren't really any large-scale music sites where I agree with the editorial policy. That was the great thing about TC - Sykonee and I were totally on the same wavelength about our idea of good music journalism and what other people were doing wrong. We were basically writing because we didn't think any other site was doing it right. The Cokemachineglow thing was an experiment in writing covertly for a "blogosphere" site, trying to bring my ideas into a different editorial environment. Failed miserably. |

I respect the fact that you stand up for what you believe in, but if you continue to be so contumacious, it's not going to get you anywhere. From your post about your behaviour at school, it's become pretty clear to me how you conduct yourself.
Does knowing you're smarter than someone and proving them wrong really outweigh the benefits of losing a job? Or losing a good relationship with that person? Everyone has moments in their life where they're forced to do something they disagree with, or that they think they have a better idea. What's the point in pissing off someone who is in a position to give you a leg up in the world?
The magazine I write for has a distribution of 120,000, and there are lots of opportunities they can offer me. I can't count the amount of times I've had to interview people I think make music or are sell-outs. I don't complain though. As a result, I've established a good relationship with my editor, and he offers me stories he doesn't offer to people who complain and generally make his life . Some of those stories are good ones that I'm really interested in. By accepting the , I can sometimes get the good.
Our good relationship also means he respects, or if not, enjoys the ease of working with me. Cutting people down to size won't make them respect you; it'll make them thing you're an arrogant twat. His attitude towards me allows me to make suggestions which he might otherwise refuse.
In short: show some respect and you'll be shown some respect. |
