the #1 ranked FIFA team poses a little threat to the #2 ranked team????:wtf:

Two things:
1. FIFA rankings are useless, they only help with group seeding.
2. Spain was ranked #1 up until a few months ago when Brasil took #1 because of one of their qualifying matches.
More fun facts:
Spain is the only team to have a perfect qualifying record in this year's tournament.
Spain currently holds a record setting 15 game winning streak in all international competitions, and from Nov 2006 - June 2009 was undefeated in 35 matches. The only other team to ever do that is Brasil. |

True,
But, Spain is not unbeatable remember the 2-0 shocker loss to the US in last years confederations cup.
Dont get me wrong, im no Brasil "homer." I respect and enjoy watching other countries like Spain play. They have awesome players and if their chemestry is on point, they will be tough to beat.
Brasil would be a tough matchup for Spain and vice versa.

I'm not rooting for either of these teams but another fun fact is that a European team has never won a World Cup not hosted in Europe(northern hemisphere team has never won in southern hemisphere), which might give the edge to Brazil, other than that Brazil is just traditionally great.
Spain looks like UEFA All-Stars team so they should justifiably be favored. But they still need to put it together. Anything can happen. |

| I think I covered all my bases. I have 3 World Cup brackets on espn.com and I picked Spain, Brasil, and The Netherlands to win. |

not so much. this is a pretty good match. that first goal brasil scored (assuming it was an intentional shot) was pretty amazing. |
