True, but why do have to it up as much as we can before we die? isnt that being selfish?

Oh, and you think other people don't have problems? Maybe your problems are making problems for other people, havent you thought of that? All these things add up.

For example, pollution of oceans has made eating fish very dangerous for health (bioaccumulation of toxins and chemicals). Many beaches around the world are slowly becoming made of plastic, and less of sand. Havent you heard of Great Pacific Garbage Patch? A huge problem with overfishing is threatening fish stocks collapse (as published in UN). etc. etc. etc.

All these problems arose in the last 50 years. Imagine how much worse things will be 50 years from now.

It was actually Rogers who billed me. I had $40 in taxes added to my bill. GST, PST and HST.... ing Rogers!!!!

Time to call and bitch :)

I was going to say that the reason is bc the PST and GST would have been pro-rated (ie. the over all taxes you paid on your cell bill would still have added up to 13%), but from the sounds of this Jenners, you just got robbed by Rogers! ;)

This tax, (and to me anything that the government imposes on you is indeed a tax regardless of who they claim it goes to,) is not about the environment.

Anybody who thinks so is basically a sucker.

This tax is about finding excuses to create yet another bloated bureaucracy to keep CUPE happy and score political points with the unions and the naive public.

Most recycling is done at the municipal level and is already funded by local taxes. The private sector pays for their own waste disposal. All this is is yet another unneeded layer of waste (pardon the pun) that our government has forced upon us.

And the kick in the teeth is that we get to pay HST ON TOP of the total amount including the eco "fee". Isnt that nice?

Daltons gotta go...

What gets the fee: All aerosol containers, from paint to hairspray. Rechargeable batteries, as well as non-lead acid motive batteries. Corrosives and irritants, such as household bleaches, drain cleaners and detergents. Assorted toxic, flammable and reactive products. Syringes and needles. Yup, kind of nuts. Paying tax on a fee.

Hmm.. I'm wrong.

"In either case, none of the monies collected in the form of eco-fees go to government or Stewardship Ontario.”

Uhh... so who gets the money?

Not yet. Even the HST tax hasnt kicked in at all stores yet, although it should have on July 1st ... I bought my new kick-ass high-end Shure dual-channel wireless professional microphone system yesterday, and only paid GST for taxes. Thats like savings of about 90 bucks for me.
:D
