As someone that's lived in two of your contentious cities, namely Sydney and Auckland....
...I have nothing of value to add. Carry on. |

Great city, but a tiny bit too twatty for me - bit too sceney and elitist at times which in CH is saying something (if you know what I mean). Don't get me wrong Quality of life is amazing, not just in Zurich but in all of Switzerland but once you've lived in LA or London, it just seems a little too provincial for me. But I do love the fact you can be Italy, France or Germany in a couple of hours by train. I miss the food in CH though - the meats, the cheese, the wine.... just outstanding.

I haven't been to Zürich a hundred times more like half that maybe?!
I get what you mean with the elitist behavior, and I know that affects the local places that try to be original; it's hard to thrive in a city whose cool, young and famous prefer to see a brand name tag than to see genuine awesomeness.
Done my share of huge city living...perhaps I'll get to it again one day, but for now Zürich is for me. It's close to home, has an active arts/culture scene which is most important for me and my work. The club/music scene is also very active.
My only hope is to be able to get somewhere else than the seedy parts of Industriequartier :haha:

Now, the funny thing about it is that they didn't plan to stay here. Their goal was to come to Brazil, make money, and then return to their motherland, reason why the first waves of immigrants gave their children two sets of names: a Portuguese first name (so they could get along with the people here) and a Japanese second name (which would be useful once they got back to Japan). Things didn't really go according to planned and most of them never left... though that habit stuck: I've got tons of friends that have become completely acculturated, can't put a sentence together in Nihongo, and yet have a Japanese 2nd name.
Still, it ain't no Canada :p |
in France the Algerians came with the intent of going back, actually, this has been an immigration for long, maybe even going back to the polish and italians who came here.
Loads of immigrants go places thinking they will return but never do; that's a pretty universal reality. |

And this, once again, reminds me of how awesome London is... and Brasília, for that matter :D |
So far every major city in europe i visited had a decent population of asians, which just goes to show why europe is so awesome...hell ive started seeing more and more of them even here! Though thats mostly exchange students...
...hot exchange students though. |

LA is only ty because it takes 3 hours to drive anywhere |
Actually, it doesn't. LA has a very well developed set of highways and the traffic flows. For the size of the city, travel is actually really quick and easy in LA. Just go to any city in North Africa or Eastern Europe and you'll never, ever complain about traffic in LA. |

Where in the US would you live, if you could choose from anywhere? |
New York or San Francisco. I have a feeling that New York would eat me alive though lol, I'd love it for a few months and get sick of it quite fast after the excitement wears off. San Francisco is amazing, little too small though.

You clearly don't live in LA. Worst traffic in America, people from New York complain about LA's traffic. Driving is only easy when it's not during rush hour, it's just too bad that rush hour is from 7am-8pm.
Honestly though, I love Los Angeles. I don't think I'd live anywhere else in America for too long before coming back :p |
