Yeah, and Danny T will be headlining this so-called "closing" party. Probably another scam by LP to make $$$. They did it b4, remember???

Bottom line is LP should step aside and let someone else run the club already. He seems more interested in his alleged DJ career. So maybe LP will finally sell the club and tour the world DJ'ing, since he clearly has now reached superstar DJ status and is the Lebron James of DJs :stongue:

Actually the closing party is going to be Steve Angello. This isn't a closing for good. Like I said before I talked to a very good source Saturday while I was there and they are closing to do a remodel and will open in back in October.

I'm AMAZED it has even stayed open this long. should have closed in December of 2006 anything after that was weaksauce.

And if it is getting bought out by this 'Emi' person he better rethink the strategy of booking lame ass talent and bring Space back to what it was - starting with removing the ghetto out of that mainroom.

I'm not even saying it has to be trance all the time but bring GOOD music back or just let the club effing close already. Trying to salvage a club by taking out the very thing that made it popular is probably one of the main reasons it's a dying cause.

is it really dying? sure, it may be dead to this board, but the last time I went (which I'd say was over a year ago) it still looked like it was in good shape. they might not be booking many different djs or whatever, but was space REALLY dying? (I'm actually asking, since I haven't been there so long)

No it's definitely not dying. That place is slammed every week, week in and week out
life thru HD
yeah that place is always slammed.
FallingMoon
yes slammed with a bunch of teeny boppers who don't know about the music but are there because "omg space is so cool, I'm going to go get drunk and take a gazillion pix and post them on facebook."

It caters to a bull crowd who listens to bull music. Same damn DJ's go there. But I guess I'm old school and preferred the mass of talent Space USED to bring ;)

the crowd in that place has definitely changed and for the worse. I mean sure you always had the case of the regular d-bags but now it's full of underage d-bags which sucks even more lol.

whatever though, times change and clearly the quality of things decrease as time goes by.

Doesn't really matter what you think because the club is slammed and making money every single week.

Sure the talent on the Terrace has gone down but IMO the loft has been bringing some damn good bookings going lately. Liebing was ing insanity last weekend. Delete is there this weekend and madea the following weekend. The past bookings the last couple of weeks have been nice also

Donnie I thought you would know that Danny T was clearly a joke. You did know he played the last Space "Closing" Party and never came back when he found out it was BS???? Just like this one is probably BS. They should instead call it the "LP Bailout" Party. Cause he clearly is trying to milk whatever he can out of Space before he parachutes out of there & starts selling coco frios on 103rd street in Hialeah.

Say what you will Donnie. But I was also there this weekend & can say that even with an awesome DJ like Liebing Space is doing about 50% of the business it used to do on normal resident nights. The mainroom was way less than 50% full at 2:30 when i walked in. The terrace was only 50% full at that time as well. The loft was the most packed of all rooms, and was only full on the floor in front of the booth. The VIP was almost completely empty. The bars and surrounding areas were close to empty all night as well. And it was free entry for anyone & everyone b4 12 this week, no password even needed. This poor of a turnout used to never happen, until they started slacking on bookings and turned the mainroom into Fallujah ...

SPACEMASTERS
I find it very hard to close, if they do they had a great run and made lots of money.
They have been talking remodeling for months, there still making money considering most of the crap talent they have been getting.
Most of the residents are either boring now or suck.
And on some actually many nights the tides turn the Terrace/loft get more people than the ghetto people downstairs.

To me that place wont close till they stop the 24hr license, and LP himself said it several times thats when the club will eventually fail.
And a great piece of integrity has left when oscar left, no matter what people think hes probabaly one of the best Dj/Producer/Musician to play at this place. And many space goers loyalty to the place was him. I still go support some of the talent they book that still impress me and have been constant throughout the years. Been hanging alot in the loft.

It was a very easy place to hate, hate it or love it nearly most people on these boards met for the first time there. And most of the old school T.A.... Yes we are getting old lets face it, everywhere I go either in Miami Beach or Downtown the teens excited to go out and do drugs are there.

Thank you!!

I don't get why some people keep defending Space like if it's paying their bills. Seriously. The loft being packed? The loft is ing small of course it's easy to pack that . I guess I can see someone who just recently got into the scene defending it because I guess this crap is all they know?

Whatever the club is which is why I don't go. And yes, they do just fine without my money but I can say whatever the I want about it because I was once a regular. Now, I don't need to ever step a foot in there again and I'd be perfectly content. This goes for a lot of old school regulars that know how good it once was to the it has come to.

The club I remember where I had so many good times and memories ceases to exist. I'm thankful to have had those good times and have met many TA's there (as Spacemasters said) but the reality now is that the club is a total waste of space ;)
