Uh oh - Space is closing? (pg. 4)

Yea I know all about the DT situation. It's ed up. I love DT and have had some epic nights when he has been on the decks but in the same breathe I'll say DT because he did us very dirty this year and ed things up for us big time earlier in the year.

I do know its bs because I just told you guys its a remodel and is going to be closed for 3 to 4 weeks. There are also other things that leaked and had to erase because they weren't supposed to be out in public yet, but I know a lot of what is going on over there with what is about to happen.

I'm not disagreeing with anyone about the lack of talent lately but I'm also saying that the loft has been bringing some great and more underground djs. I used to be on the terrace every Sunday for years until the past couple months because the venue changed and it just isn't the same, that's why I don't go anymore unless its for someone I really want to see. I'll say it again Liebing was insane. The loft was busy but the vip wasn't full at all. I think I had everyone that was in the VIP last Saturday. Also the bars in the loft are never ever busy, that's why the bartenders fight to be on the terrace or mainroom. I always head to the loft to get a drink if I don't have a bottle. When I left at 6.30 Saturday though the Terrace was pretty busy but nothing like if Patrick would of been playing that morning.

There was nothing better than OG in that mainroom and those were magical nights that stayed slammed in there till the early hours of the morning. A lot of you on here were giving me when I was defending OG in a different thread sometime back but he made that old mainroom and no one can take that away from him. I would love for OG to come back to Space but that just isn't going to happen anytime soon, since he just signed a 2 year contract with Opium Group.

Fact of the matter is, I think a facelift will be good for the venue. I didn't really get into details about the renovation because I was twisted and didn't feel like getting into all but I hope the mainroom comes back. I do know about some of the future bookings coming later in the year and I must say they are very very good and will be something completely different than the normal down here. When the time gets closer I let some of them out of the bag.

I'm not defending the slack bookings at all but I can see the coin from two sides when it comes to the business aspect. Go ahead and blame LP you want for the bookings but at the end of the day it is a business and why the hell is he going to spend 15,000 to 20,000 on booking these huge names and turn less profit when he can book 4 local guys or smaller names for less money and at the end of the day triple his profits. It's a business and LP knows whoever he books that the club is going to be packed and make money. Everyone also forgets that a lot of these guys you used to see at other places around town are on EXCLUSIVE contracts, not much club owners can do when it comes to that. Also when you have to go through agencies to get a lot of these bigger names, the agency will make you book 2 or 3 of their smaller names, that are still very pricey, to be able to book who you want.

As for the roof on the Terrace thank the 18 people that live in the condos around the area for that. It's for sound proofing so they could keep it going without being hassled and shut down on Sunday mornings. It's just not the same all closed off now.

To some it up, all I'm saying is they don't give two s if there's 25 of us sitting here saying the bookings suck because there is 3,000 other people that will be in the venue every weekend spending money.

End of rant. Now I'm looking for to August 21st with Alex Kenji on the Terrace and I'm really looking forward to November 20th ;)

I don't get why some people keep defending Space like if it's paying their bills. Seriously. The loft being packed? The loft is ing small of course it's easy to pack that . I guess I can see someone who just recently got into the scene defending it because I guess this crap is all they know?

Whatever the club is which is why I don't go. And yes, they do just fine without my money but I can say whatever the I want about it because I was once a regular. Now, I don't need to ever step a foot in there again and I'd be perfectly content. This goes for a lot of old school regulars that know how good it once was to the it has come to.

The club I remember where I had so many good times and memories ceases to exist. I'm thankful to have had those good times and have met many TA's there (as Spacemasters said) but the reality now is that the club is a total waste of space ;)

I was never defending Space all I was saying was that the loft IMO has had some great bookings as of late. Do you know who paying my bills? No, so don't say about things you don't know

And no I haven't just recently got into the scene been in it for a long time now. I already got into this discussion with Av1 and don't need to do it again.

I'll agree with you though I think Space is now and the crowd is weird and creepy which is exactly why I don't go there anymore besides when someone really catches my eye that I haven't seen or haven't seen in a while.

I don't know why you keep bitching about Space bookings since you don't go there anymore and next door at Nocturnal they have been bringing some solid bookings the last couple weeks and will continue too for the next couple months. Take yourself next door and have a good night with an open Terrace

no matter what they do to the place its pretty obvious it'll only ever be a shell of its former self.

Best times for me there were when it opened all up until 2004 early 2005. Most of you on here wouldnt know what good times are until you visited that place in those years ;) It was a whole other world trully deserving the name Space. :toocool:

+1

Trancemission Friday Nights and also afterhours Saturday/Sunday with Edgar V from the opening in March 2000 through mid 2001 = best music & best times ever @ Space. Period, end of story, nothing else compares to those nights, forget about it ...

I'd also agree that up through 2005 their bookings were very solid, but have significantly continued to fall off since 2007. In fact 2004 may have been Space's best year for guest bookings: Tiesto (3 or 4 times), Picotto (twice I believe), PVD (at least 3 times), Fanciulli (a few times), Corsten (4 times), Deep Dish (multiple times), and many more that year. Almost every week there were great guest DJs and a bunch of Friday Night special trance bookings that year ...

i think markus as the resident every saturday is up there as some of the best times space ever saw.

also the sander kleinenberg shows in 2005 that were every two months where he would play the mainroom starting at 4am until like 6 then switch to the terrace until god knows when. the train of people following sander k up to the terrace was always a sight to be seen.

i remember being at ferry in june 2005 and you could still go upstairs and look down. for pvd in august 2005 there was a roof above our heads and if you went upstairs you were in what is now called the "loft." so sometime then.
