I had an endoscopy done today and it was, hands down, the worst ing feeling I have ever felt in my life.
The really nice nurse and the GI (who looked like Bill Cosby :gsmile: ) shoved a tube down my throat, down my esophagus and I could feel it driving down through my stomach, while I gagged, burped and drooled and my body convulsed.
I had opted not to be sedated because I wanted to carry on with my day after.
Good ing grief
And I thought trans-vaginal exams were uncomfortable.
Has anyone here ever had an endoscopy?
Please share any surgery, medical procedure using weird ass instruments or "x-scopy" that you have gone through.
I am full of sympathy and curiosity on the matter. |

| I had a laparoscopy in 2008... but they knocked me out for it. The recovery time was horrible. I woke up and my stomach was distended because they had filled me up with gas, and I was bruised as . Took me about 2 weeks before I was capable of doing normal things. |

I sometimes have trouble swallowing - largely attributable to the fact that my thyroid (located at the base of the throat) was ed up for a long time when I was a teenager.
My doctor just wanted to rule out the possibility that there was something wrong with my esophagus.
Dr. Bill Cosby confirmed that everything looked 100% healthy in there and that I will likely never need to do this again. |

I would love to say 'at least it didn't go in the other end' but to be honest, if you're awake, an endoscopy would probably be a lot more uncomfortable.
I'm not going to ask what it was for, but I hope you're well. |

Prostate exam.
Also, when I was having some cardiovascular tests done, for one of them they had to rapidly pump a bunch of contrast fluid into a vein in my arm. I forget which test it was for, but the fluid gives you a warm, buzzing sensation that you can feel spreading throughout your body as the solution is pumped around. Very odd and kind of interesting feeling. |

Mother that sounds terrible
They were checking out your abdomen?
Did they enter in the northern or southern gates? |

I'm didn't graduate in medicine, but that sounds like they were looking for any arterial blockages. |
